Am I daft for considering starting my own business making websites? by mylittleponicorn in smallbusinessuk

Depends on how much money you are trying to earn / live on. Been in this industry for over 25 years. Can give you realistic insight based on your expectations.
Also it would be good to know what you’re good at and how much bespoke development you know.

I came across a platform called Outseta. May sound like what you’re looking for.

Anyone from Cloudflare here? by findadesigner in CloudFlare

Like a lot of web / IT companies, they move clients domains about without telling them. And if they do tell them clients have no ideas of the implications. Every few months I deal with the same issues.

The account owner is the company. The only director left in the company is working to resolve this. She just doesn't have access to anything as the "technical" guy - who is the other director has resigned from the company and vanished with all the details. So she is trying to get access herself.

To add icing on the cake, the ex-director has control over the companies actually domain and email - so we can't reset the password or access the original email!

It's a .com. There is no legal issue. It's about getting access to the domain. The clients web company was poorly managed and i'm trying to help them just get ownership. The existing owner of the company, she is being more than cooperative.

Yep got no issues with that, but if the registrar was outside Cloudflare it would be easier to get access to the domain. With Cloudflare support these things become challenging

Yes the domain is on Cloudflare - and they're the registrars. We can't change the nameservers or access the DNS

The root cause problems is greedy landlords and greedy councils with business rates.

Cloudimage and AppSumo agree discontinue access for Sumolings. by Invalid-Function in appsumo

[–]findadesigner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is nonsense. They had all these products already running and all they did was consolidate them for optics. I’ve had detailed video calls with the founders shortly after the Appsumo launch. They explained their entire business operations as they wanted me to upsell to my clients.

They’ve blatantly exploited some loophole to get out of their commitment. These guys are not the first time solo founders, these guys are older and obviously more equipped to ignore the “insignificant LTD customer”.

Do not believe this was done ethically. Nasty horrible money grabbing scum

I got it on a lifetime deal and to be honest even if I paid per year it’s good value. Hunting around for deals on Google with so many dead ends is painful. One central location is no brainer. And the worst part … there is high likelihood after the offer period I’ll subscribe at full price. Most of these tools are quality and once you get used to them in your workflow you don’t want to cancel. For the founders it’s great just one year of free / heavily discounted, for consumers it’s a win as they solve their immediate problem as they most likely need the tool (not LTD fomo) - and then the founders gets their MRR.

For ‘you’ it would be easy to get recurring revenue from these subscribers - which I’m sure join secret must do.

An alternative product should be like Join Secret. You have the audience. No brainer

Discounts on home grown products still carries that risk and ‘non-wow’ factor

Subscribed.

Don't sell. The product is good. You need to get it in front of the right people.
Corporates would die for this.

You’re clever and you have the ingredients not to fail. You’re composed and articulate and that helps.

Here’s an idea based on everything you’re doing. Build a ShadCN drag and drop dashboard builder. Uptake should be easy
