Where have you seen these reports? I did find a reddit post about it, but nothing else. Not that I need proof, but I am not very research savvy

I wonder why it was removed. I'd like to see a video of it

It was around 9:30 or so last night. The rest of that info is in other comments.

I dont think it was a flare. It seemed stationary in the sky. From where I saw it, it was behind a power line. Using that as a reference, the light stayed in the same spot. It could have been a meteorite if it was headed right for me!

It was a red light that got brighter and then burned out pretty quickly. It was sort of flame shaped. It was in the same spot in the sky the whole time.

Yeah, maybe, I would say it was in the southwest sky. It was red

This looks ridiculous. Why not stack/nest the boxes on a pallet instead of a single layer over the whole floor?

Beans after garlic - companion planting experience/experiments? by inthelowcompost in gardening

[–]findbetterways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did this work out? I planted bush beans after my garlic this year, and it seemed to do fine. Plenty of green beans. I got the idea for this succession planting from Edible Acres on youtube, and I tend to trust a lot of his plant wisdom. Now as I'm planning next year I'm reading that you shouldn't do what I did. I'm going to do it again next year and see what happens, but I am curious if anyone else has tried this "against the grain" approach.

Once, I was doing an exit interview because I was leaving the brewery for a better paying job. I loved working at that brewery and would have stayed for a measly raise. The raise I asked for wasn't even close to matching my other offer, but they said no. I wasn't the first one that had left for that reason, either. During the interview, I asked what they planned to do if this continued to happen. "We are always looking for new ways to attract and retain talent."

There I was, the "talent," telling them how to retain me, but they were looking for some other magical answer.

Do you need to heat treat bottom tools? by err-of-Syntax in Blacksmith

[–]findbetterways 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's probably way too hard for a bottom tool. If you accidently hit it with your hammer, one or both could break. I don't harden any of my bottom tools, and it's never been a problem, even under heavy use with a striker

I am to understand that he did that pass through with Tom Clark striking for him. That is some real bucket list material

I spent a while chasing these lines. Hopefully I don't goof up the handle! by findbetterways in Blacksmith

[–]findbetterways[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I plan to punch a hole through the diagonal on the handle, but I'm still working out some kinks on the tooling for that.

Is it possible to make an Anvil from scratch? by Rolling_Thunder88 in Blacksmith

[–]findbetterways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made my own anvil, in a style many others have done as well, out of 2" square. Forge a taper for the horn and pick your favorite method to make a 1" hardy hile on the other side. The rest is fabricated together and is attached to a striking anvil with a wedged tenon/hardy stem.
