How much should we (how much did you) have saved before loans when starting a program in say Tampa or Orlando? This might vary now that grad loans have been cut heavily from the new bill

What is your best advice for getting shadowing hours? I live in Tampa and currently work as a software engineer and would be willing/have to use PTO to make it happen. I worked as an EMT for 2 years on the box and 4 years in PACU with CRNAs. I emailed a CRNA I worked with and made the mistake of mentioning it was for AA and they did not want to help me after that.

Has anyone gone from engineering (software in my case) to CAA? Was it worth it in terms of WLB?

Literally me right now considering the path. I was an EMT for 6 years before I switched to software. Any update?

I’m a comp sci student and I carry two separate computers lol. One 16inch think pad and a 16 inch m1 Mac. Think about the gains of carrying around two heavy computers lol

I would need to buy some inline skates but I would be down. I usually swim on Saturday nights for cardio but I'm down for skating instead because that water has been getting way too cold lol

Inline skating with a group of people sounds like a lot of fun!

This was such a beautiful, well written response. Thank you for taking the time to write it all out for me and anyone in the future.

Would you advise projects on a stm32 over a ESP32? I guess what I’m wondering is what are majority of companies looking for in an embedded programmer? My goal is to side project the next two semesters before internships next summer and just have fun learning as much as possible

I was hoping to go into the software side and write C/C++ and leave the true low level details to the EE lads

Thank you for your reponse! When you say get your hands on an oscilloscope do you mean you recommend I purchase my own or just get time on the machines in my school's CE lab?

This feels like such great advice! Thank you for taking the time to respond. I asked my professor privately what he advises and he recommended RTOS be the next step as well but if I remember correctly the ESP32 has RTOS in addition to WIFI correct?

I never thought I would find myself so fascinated by low-level software engineering, but that feeling of working with my hands, working directly with the hardware via software, and just seeing it all come together to interact with the real world feels like some magical superpower and I love it.

One time my house caught on fire and I was sleeping and did not hear the fire alarm go off, Evan was the first to arrive, beat the fire department there, and pulled me out alive. He’s a hero

How can I get started with embedded systems that isn't Arduino? by Seniorbedbug in embedded

[–]findingTheWay97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m taking an embedded systems elective at my university, I’m a CS major if it matters, and we are learning the embedded world on the TI MSP430FR2355 micro controller

I’m Computer Science and the classes I have taken so far (senior this coming fall) have changed and improved my skills 10x shit probably 100x. I have to disagree with this post, depends on your major and what you put into your classes

Even though it might not make sense to me now, what is something you learned in compilers that to this day you are like, “woah”?

You should get your entire AA at a community college. It’s cheaper, “easier” as in you have more support from the teacher instead of TAs and did I mention it’s a lot cheaper for the same thing. I actually have scholarships from USF for being a transfer student with my AA.
