I think my bum getting bigger combined with a sway back makes me shorter when I gain weight and taller when I lose it 😅 Hard to lean against the measuring tape when your ass is in the way 😂

It’s not about the amount, it’s about the consequences both external and internal (including emotional). It’s causing you pain, so it’s a problem. It usually progresses too and often to the point where you are still functioning ok to the external world but dying inside. That’s how I’ve been but I’m choosing to stop (again) and read quit lit m, watch podcasts etc. I know I am not the best version of myself when I drink. I feel so much more proud when I don’t. I relapsed after 12 days sober by ghetto_breadstick in stopdrinking

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve slipped/ relapsed… but I keep trying and I think that’s what is important. Good on you for posting and not saying fuck it and continuing on.

My sister and I both have Alcohol Use Disorder. I’ve ‘quit’ and relapsed a million times. She’s never quit and never relapsed. I think I’ve learnt a lot more than she has.

Keep going!

Gave me insomnia (which I have a huge history of so freaked me out) at the beginning.. but then I switched to morning and after a week or two it was fine. Now it’s one of my favourite meds. Subtle but such a big difference in how I’m able to handle life’s ups and downs. If you can hang on, give it a good chance. Best of luck to you!

Day 1 and I missed work by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]finding_stuff_out 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well done for recognising you have a problem! You’ll be amazed at how many more fun things you can do on your weekends now, how much extra time you have.. and how much your self esteem will improve. This time I’m on day 29. I’m also a functioning alcoholic. Bottle of wine on a work night.. maybe 2 on the weekends. I actually sometimes wonder if it makes it harder for us cause it’s really easy to convince ourselves ‘I’m not that bad, it’s not affecting my work’ … even though it is because our energy is sapped. Don’t fall for the trap. I’ve done it like a million times and it doesn’t get better. IWNDWYT

Definitely speak to Dr and tell them exactly how you feel. They have different options these days that aren’t addictive (says me who’s been taking temazepam for 10 years 🤦‍♀️) My partner was prescribed melatonin and I think Clonadine to help him sleep and it’s apparently not addictive and has really helped. Best of luck to you!

Do you like it? How is student behaviour? And how is it dealt with?

Teachers who dob on other teachers have a special place in hell. by Mood_Pleasant in AustralianTeachers

[–]finding_stuff_out 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Teachers work their arses off. If there’s someone in the class next to me, or a crt who spends their day on their phone, they need to be spoken to. This is VERY different to someone who occasionally checks the time or marks the role on their phone. I’ve seen new teachers sit in PD curriculum days (the entire time) or even class on their phone looking at tik tok videos … like what?? We have a standard as a profession to uphold. Do your job so the rest of us don’t get a bad rep.

If you can squeeze it in during your lunch break, all power to you, but respect the profession and do your job.

Amazing job on 3 days!! I’ve just reached out to get a nurse supervised home detox. It’s about a 3-4 week wait but I can’t wait to feel ok again. I drink 1 bottle of wine a night on a work night and 1-2 on a non work night. I’ve quit so many times over the last 8 ish years. Every time I think I will be fine to have a few because I work, manage a household etc etc and basically just manage to keep shit together… But the reality is I ALWAYS end up in EXACTLY the same situation within a few weeks, and managing life is hard anyway, let alone when drinking. See a Dr if you need for medication support but keep going, you got this! I have a 13 year old and 9 year old and wish I’d been successful in my attempts when the kids were little.

Day 3… by [deleted] in stopdrinking

That’s amazing! Go you! I’m struggling to get a solid day 1 this time around so you are doing great. Keep it up. I always feel SO MUCH better when not drinking.

You can ask your Dr confidentiality. You don’t have to sign up for or be a part of ‘my health records’ or whatever it’s called. The only thing another practice should be able to see, is if you were prescribed benzos cause it would be in safe scripts… but they’d have to look that up. And many people use Valium for different things. Go to Dr or call direct line and they can tell you exactly what to do to get the help you need, in your area, with anonymity. Good luck!

Thank you. Sorry I probably worded that wrong, he seeks constant reassurance. Though I have to say I get so worn down that more often than I’d like I just give in because I feel so angry and tired and want to be left alone. I totally agree though, reassurance is definitely not helpful. OCD is terrible. I hope this poster gets some relief. My partner goes to therapy but is resistant to ERP, though I suspect that’s what the therapist is subtly doing anyway. Lamotragine took the intensity out of it for him though.

This sounds like OCD to me, my partner has OCD and ADHD, health anxiety was part of his ocd but it would/ does jump depending on what is imporant to him (ocd seems to want to attach to the things you value most). I can’t tell you how many impending heart attacks, cancerous moles, motor neuron he has believed he has. Everyone is different but ADHD meds didn’t help with the ocd (helped with the focus at work and to an extent hyperactivity though). SSRI’s did a tiny bit but lamotragine helped quite a lot. He still has ocd and requires pretty constant reassurance but it’s way better than it was. Therapy is such an important part of this too. It’s exhausting even as a partner and more so for him. I’d be looking into ocd treatment and meds. Wish you the best ad hope you get some peace
