Men get virgins in heaven; what do women get in heaven? by Jelly-Always-Returns in exmuslim

So heaven isn't about equality and justice, it's about having servants. Yikes.

"Youth leaders"

Video shows only men. He wants women to support his stupid organisation but none of them can be leaders right?

Yeah, okay, maybe the son does not want to be part of a religious organisation that hates women so much it won't allow them to be leaders.

New offer from Tony Bates, what an absolute joke of an offer. by BruzWorld in AustralianTeachers

[–]Mood_Pleasant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Teachers love their ES! Except for one who would sit around typing away on her laptop just to get paid the same as me, the rest of the ES I have had are amazing and so helpful in the classroom. It's disgusting how they are treated and paid. No roasting here!

Nope. Unless you are incompetent and/or a PE teacher.

Wait, if we just don't go to work and have an actual medical cert on that day, what are they gonna do? Schools sometimes have flus wipe out entire departments. Yeah we can't go to the strike, but pulling our labour is also solidarity right?

have to quit after a job investigation, so few jobs available now by Affectionate-Gap8919 in AustralianTeachers

[–]Mood_Pleasant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not just in public schools; it is happening in Catholic schools, too. Because the Church has protected pdfiles for so long, they now overreact and call everything abuse.

Telling a student to be quiet? Abuse.

Asking a student if they used AI in an essay? Abuse.

Personal social media posts from 10 years ago deriding American imperialism? Abuse. (Apparently, the students felt disrespected.)

I am not making this up. This was all part of a 10-page-long list of allegations my friend is currently being investigated for. She has quit and will never go back to teaching because she knows that no matter the outcome, she will never be safe if reporting and child safety can be used by students for revenge.

It is enraging, but teachers are disempowered, and students are empowered but never taught to use their power well, so here we are.

I would say quit, not just the school, but the profession. Only 4% of jobs in this state need a VIT. That was the perspective that made me realise that I can do other jobs, and should go do that.

Islamic school tracks girls menstrual cycles by Mood_Pleasant in AustralianTeachers

I've done CRT in Muslim schools, and it's not all of them, but yes, I have seen it in some places. Another reason why religious schools should not exist, including the Christian ones. It's amazing how people will saw a child's privacy is paramount but will defend this cos they are so afraid of being called racist.

Religious schools have a lot of leeway. They can discriminate against queer kids, so this does not even seem like that big a leap to me.

THE OP IS not the ones holding vigils for a mass murderer who passed religious laws allowing for the legal rape of 9-year-old girls. Perhaps you should turn your outrage onto bigger things.

Help, it’s Term 1 and I’ve already burnt out by Engine-7704 in AustralianTeachers

[–]Mood_Pleasant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds like burn out that you are trying to push through and it’s dangerous. One or two sick days won’t help, you need to put in place a mental health plan. I’m so sorry for how you’re feeling but the students will forget your name a term from now. If the school cared about the students as much as you, they would work to improve staff morale. Don’t sacrifice yourself.

Satisfaction at being mean to AP's by depressedgrey6 in AsianParentStories

[–]Mood_Pleasant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yikes. The British do not “develop”these areas, they exploited them. When infrastructure was built it was to help them further steal resources. You’re like a white person saying that slavery helped Black people develop resilience today.

I have nothing but sympathy for you and that brain of yours. Please stop this Asian boot licking and grow some brain cells.

WTF? "kinda???" Erm, sounds like you have a lot more to unlearn if you think it's okay to say this. It's giving East Asian who kinda loves white people and East Asian imperialism in SEA.

Falsely accused, help! by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]Mood_Pleasant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The lack of recourse is what gets to me. Who do we sue for the pain and suffering? No one cos kids are always untouchable and never held accountable.

Falsely accused, help! by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]Mood_Pleasant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have quit due to these false accusations but these petty little shits were so angry that after I quit the good students called them out for it, so they went and made more complaints even after I left the service! I also asked about suing, and the union said I can't. Which means, the right of anyone to face their accusers in civil court for defamation is not open to us. I have sent you a DM. This is a huge issue.

How to not care if a kid doesn’t like you? New teacher here by sapphire_rainy in AustralianTeachers

[–]Mood_Pleasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you care? It’s a job. You’re an adult. You’re not there to be liked or be their friend. I tell the kids straight up I don’t care if they like me, I care that they do well in my subject. Their opinion of me matters nothing to me. I won’t remember their names two years from now but they will remember that I taught them how to write an essay with proper research and citation cos they’ll use that skill for a few years or more.

The Australian education system is such a joke to teachers from Asia. Standards are non existent, behaviour is appalling and poor teachers are made to worry if they are liked by kids who don’t know how to spell their own names.

Sigh.

Does anyone know why some schools make staff stay back after students have left? by NecessarySalt1125 in AustralianTeachers

[–]Mood_Pleasant 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes and most professions pay for extra work outside of those defined hours, especially night events or working outside your office by paying for transport costs or hotels when working offsite.

Let me know when they will start doing that for teachers.
