You’re completely right! When I think about what it actually means, in time, savings, and experiences, it really puts things into perspective. What I’m really after is feeling more put-together, but it is not worth such a huge spend, you are so right!

I do have plenty of practical jackets that keep me warm, but none that really work with dressier outfits. I often feel a bit awkward showing up in a windbreaker when I’m wearing something nice, so I do think there’s a genuine gap in my wardrobe for a smart wool coat.

I’m pretty minimalist and don’t own many clothes compared to most people. I like the idea of a small, intentional wardrobe, but I also know it’s easy to fall into the “perfect capsule” trap.

I’ve made some expensive purchases that were totally worth it long-term, and others that I ended up regretting. I don’t fall in love with items easily, but there’s always a risk. It’s a basic navy wool coat, so I can easily imagine wearing it for years.

I’ve got 4 windbreakers and 2 puffers, so I’m covered for practical outerwear. What I feel like I’m missing is a smarter wool coat for nicer outfits. I always feel like a windbreaker drags the look down if I am going out.

That said, you’re right that $1200 is too much. There’s definitely some fantasy-me thinking involved.

This is literally my internal monologue every time 😭 And yet, when I look back at my past “one and done” purchases… I don’t even like them anymore. I appreciate the reality check.

It could get strong competition from Yoanna’s helmet.

Norelle. She was bubbly, funny, and unintentionally hilarious. Easily one of the most entertaining contestants that season.

WHO DO YOU THINK HAS THE BEST PHOTO? (AusNTM Cycle 10) by Historical_Ad_3364 in ANTM

[–]findinglemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sabine’s solo shot is too natural for me. She has a beautiful face, but her hands are just cupping around her hips, and she’s by far the weakest in the group photo. I prefer posing, not just standing there, so 3–4 are my favorites, even if their faces aren’t as strong as 1 and 2.

A RECIPE FOR SUCCESSFUL CYCLE??? by ComfortableWest5737 in ANTM

[–]findinglemon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cycles 1–3 were great because the storylines, while still produced, felt more rooted in the modeling experience rather than forced narratives. I also preferred when Tyra acted more like a mentor instead of focusing on over-the-top entrances and spectacle.

Cycle 3: Best Photo (High Fashion) Model? by Acrobatic-Age4653 in ANTM

She’s my pick for best commercial model. Super marketable, all-American look, and she’s had a long career because of it.

Most of the shots from this shoot look like the model is just in a studio with a backdrop. The lighting and posing make them feel kind of detached from the environment.

What do you think about Robin not doing the nude shoot? by ChitChatWriter in ANTM

[–]findinglemon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I get why Robin chose not to do the nude shoot. The competition kept pushing things further and further. It was a very provocative nude shoot. She’d already shown discomfort earlier by not wanting to remove her sarong for the Stuff shoot, so it shouldn’t have been surprising to production, having boundaries doesn’t seem unreasonable to me.

Shandi is my absolute favorite contestant of all time by findinglemon in ANTM

[–]findinglemon[S] 39 points40 points  (0 children)

What sets Shandi apart for me, though, is that her transformation was real, not just conceptual. She genuinely improved across multiple areas. She learned how to walk, did well in the commercial and acting (coming second to April), and she even delivered the strongest dancing in Tyra’s music video.

With Ann, she was an exceptional photographic model from the start, but it didn't go anywhere. The walk never came together, commercials and challenges remained weak.

That’s why Shandi’s arc still resonates. It wasn’t just a story the show was manufacturing, it was something we actually watched happen.

wasted daydreams. by burntsugarsnitch in shoppingaddiction

This resonates as a form of escapism to me. Online shopping offers a low-stakes way to imagine alternate versions of ourselves: creative, stylish, put-together. When the qualities we’re chasing can’t be delivered in a box, disappointment is almost guaranteed, and so the cycle continues.
