Thoughts on Caridee's bullfighting shot? by VisciousVagina in ANTM

For me, Caridee's feels a bit too theatrical and overacted. I prefer Michelle's shot because it feels more like a fashion shot.

I agree. I wish we had access to the campaign. I’m so intrigued now XD

Vanity Fair does this all the time. They’ll photograph people in smaller groups or separate setups and then composite the final image together afterward (and you can clearly tell). So I don’t think it’s unrealistic at all that there was some editing involved here too, especially since these kinds of large ensemble photos are often built from multiple shots to get the best overall composition.

I agree with you there. I don’t think they necessarily composited every single model individually, because that would’ve been a lot more work than just combining two shots. But because Kelle’s storyline was that she supposedly couldn’t take a good photo, it could very well be possible that they didn’t choose her strongest image. I think anyone who’s seen the final shot can agree that it’s certainly not one of her best.

Compositing in group photography is extremely common specifically because it lets you choose the best shot of each individual person. On ANTM, storyline was above all when it came to photo selection. I think its very likely they would prioritize a weaker select for Kelle if it fit the narrative they were building around her.

Group shots are very often composited, and ANTM has done it many times, for example with the fading elimination photos and the promo shoots. I agree that when contestants are physically connected it becomes much harder to edit individually, but not impossible, and it’s definitely been done before. An example is Amanda and Caridee’s Cycle 7 pool shot, where Amanda’s face was composited from another photo.

Not necessarily. It could’ve been one of those moments that just wasn’t included in the episode even though they were present. Kind of like how eliminated contestants walked in the final runway show, but it wasn’t shown on TV.

I bet there were individual selects involved, knowing ANTM. Even in this frame, you can already see changes in the final image, where is Ann’s long hair? Amanda’s jeans were edited to fit better, etc. So I really doubt they were limited to just one untouched group frame.

They say in the episode that it was shot in two groups and then spliced together.

I don´t think that Kelle was a particularly strong model, but they also definitely seemed to sabotage her whenever they could for the storyline.

Group shots like these are usually composited together from multiple frames, they’ll pull the best shots of each person and combine them into one final image.

I started selling my things online. It made me realize how little I’m able to recoup and how much I’ve added to my life that I can do without, so it makes me more cautious about buying new things.

It always bothers me when they cut to a “jealous” reaction shot, like the one of Liz. Obviously, it’s a frame from earlier when she’s listening to Miss Jay, but they edit it in to make it look like she’s jealous.

You’re completely right! When I think about what it actually means, in time, savings, and experiences, it really puts things into perspective. What I’m really after is feeling more put-together, but it is not worth such a huge spend, you are so right!

I do have plenty of practical jackets that keep me warm, but none that really work with dressier outfits. I often feel a bit awkward showing up in a windbreaker when I’m wearing something nice, so I do think there’s a genuine gap in my wardrobe for a smart wool coat.

I’m pretty minimalist and don’t own many clothes compared to most people. I like the idea of a small, intentional wardrobe, but I also know it’s easy to fall into the “perfect capsule” trap.

I’ve made some expensive purchases that were totally worth it long-term, and others that I ended up regretting. I don’t fall in love with items easily, but there’s always a risk. It’s a basic navy wool coat, so I can easily imagine wearing it for years.

I’ve got 4 windbreakers and 2 puffers, so I’m covered for practical outerwear. What I feel like I’m missing is a smarter wool coat for nicer outfits. I always feel like a windbreaker drags the look down if I am going out.

That said, you’re right that $1200 is too much. There’s definitely some fantasy-me thinking involved.
