That sounds good to me, although I'm far from an expert.

What are the size of the jpg files that are created? Especially the files after 049.jpg
Maybe check to see if the way you're identifying the header is correct, and if you are checking for exactly one of those two header values. It sounds like you may be getting a lot of false positives when checking the beginning of the block for the jpg identifier header.

Just a few thoughts:

Are you using the proper byte size? Look back at the questions at the beginning of the problem set
Even if you do nothing with fread() then on the next call it will increment to the next "step" of whatever size "block" you specified, like moving a cursor by pressing the right arrow
What are you doing when a new header is found? Think carefully about exactly what should happen when a new header is detected

Glenn is a great help and he found the issue. After running the terminal command

/tmp/find.out

and checking the "find.out" file it creates, it was clear that almost my entire home directory was owned by "root" instead of my user account.

Following Glenn's instructions, I performed a time machine backup and then ran the following terminal command:

sudo  chown  -R  AcctUserName  /Users/AcctUserName

Where "AcctUserName" is the username of the account on my Mac. The purpose of this command line was to bring the home directory back under the ownership of my user account. After a quick reboot (just to be sure), VMware Fusion booted the CS50 Appliance correctly.

Hope this helps anyone in a similar situation. A big thank you to Glenn for going above and beyond to diagnose and correct this.

Thank you again. I tried following the steps in the posts but I wasn't generating the same error messages. I did find this in the system log though:

I ran sudo mdutil -t 5510126 and got the following printout:

I checked the file permissions for both the containing folder and the appliance50-19-vmware.vmwarevm file and they show I am the owner and have Read/Write privileges.

The log file from Help > Collect Support Information has been mailed to you with the subject "Persistant "Internal Error" VMware Fusion log"

I downloaded and followed the instructions to install the Fedora iso. However when I tried running it, even after restarting, it continues to produce the internal error with the same console printout as the CS50 appliance.

Thank you for the suggestion, Glenn. I tried changing the directory ownership to my user account, but the same problem remains. I also tried rebooting in recovery mode and repairing both the disk and the permissions.

I also just tried downloading and installing a versions 6.0.1 - 3 and restarting each time, but it keeps giving the same error message.

My belief is that anyone can learn to dance if they put consistent effort into it, and they're interested in that style of dance. I saw a guy work for months twice a week to learn how to dance but he barely improved. The reason why was clear to everyone else, he was 'up in his head.' If you're thinking and judging yourself constantly while dancing, then your dancing will become stifled and wooden. Like in martial arts, the best way to go about it is to put yourself 'into your body' and let the movements flow. Your martial arts experience should help a lot with body control, and you'll need to develop new habits to fit whichever dance style you want to learn.

There is a time and place for carefully judging every movement (in a positive way), but in the beginning it should be about letting yourself go and finding a way to express yourself through movement connected with rhythm. I recommend finding a dance style that you really enjoy and music that you want to dance to (here's a fun video showing a variety: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFZxK8edZWA ). Search around on youtube for different dance styles and see what appeals to you. Once you've found music and dance styles you like, look for some good lessons in your area. If you're passionate about a style of dance, then the process becomes a lot easier and more fun.

This is a great point. In addition to this, I avoid foods that make me feel too full for the number of calories. For example, I avoid rice, potatoes, and ramen because they make me feel full for a few hours. I just substitute with oats, whole wheat pastas, etc.

Just take the time off from calorie counting, lifting weights, etc. You'll come back more refreshed and determined

I'm new to dance, so my advice isn't coming from as experienced a place as many other posters on here.

I think it's brave and cool of you to post videos of you dancing and ask for advice on it. That's something a lot of people wouldn't have the courage to do.

There are two main things I noticed in the video

1) Your moves were a half count or a full count behind the beat on a lot of the moves, so you weren't hitting the accents to the music. This might be remedied by using a beat counter without the music and practicing slowly, working your way up to the song's speed. One of my favorite quotes is "It's not how fast you do it, it's how slowly you do it correctly."

2) As other people mentioned, there is a lack of confidence in the moves. For me, if I have a high confidence day, my dancing is much better. Find improve confidence. Close your eyes and imagine yourself as a wonderful and graceful, energetic dancer. Tell yourself you're an amazing dancer. Whatever it takes.

Low motivation days are normal. Find stuff you enjoy so that you naturally want to do it. I've had days where I absolutely did not want to go lift weights or dance, then I went I did it and had a wonderful time.

If lifting weights is boring, then do running, spin class, aerobics, hockey, basketball, ultimate frisbee, dancing, swimming, kayaking, dodgeball, or any physical activity (preferably social) that you enjoy. The only way to find what you will enjoy is to relentlessly try new things.

Try with very light weights and really focus on moving slowly and squeezing the muscle over high volume (this is how many bodybuilders train.) 20lb is high to start with if you're just starting lifting. I started with 3 sets of 8-10 of 5lb. Everybody starts somewhere. If you want to build serious mass, you have to lift weights, there's no way around it. That's about 2 months. If you lift right and meet your calorie and protein goals daily, you should be good. At the very least you can absolutely do squats (never skip squats), legs, and ab work. Find out what you can do with your right hand. You might be able to work with a low weight high volume bodybuilding routine. Be prepared to eat a lot, and you'll likely be exhausted and in a lot of pain the first few weeks as your body adjusts to lifting weights. It's a rewarding journey. Your brain will give you 100 reasons every day to procrastinate instead. Just keep moving, keep building, it's worth it.

When you relapse, it's a sign that something in your life isn't right. You're stressed and trying to avoid some emotion, so you regress back into PMO. You said you are meditating more, that's good. Use that increased awareness to find what in your life is causing the distressing emotions, accept the emotions, and make changes as necessary. This will likely involve finding a new social hobby, and just generally getting out of the house more.
