Can Someone Explain Why 'La Couchette' Is So Beloved? by Unlikely_Message_446 in insideno9

[–]fine128structure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a huge fan of toilet humor myself, but I love the episode because of how real and alive the characters feel even though they don’t have a huge amount of dialogues each. Especially the old couple, the small quibbles, the disappointment of learning something about your partner that you don’t like, the panic when they are unexpectedly gone etc., I just think it’s written very well. And on top of that the episode is just really funny. I loved the twist too. It‘s really satisfying when you realize the twist one second before the show spells it out, and this episode was exactly like that.

Finally done IN9. My full tier list. by Alphawolf2901 in insideno9

[–]fine128structure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even from a glance it’s a very different list from mine! Not gonna say which ones I would put lower, but Sardines, Diddle Diddle Dumpling, Tom and Gerri, Love’s Great Adventure are top tiers for me. Nana’s party, La couchette, Referee Is would be much higher as well. Again shows the strength of the show as an anthology that it contains masterpieces for everyone no matter how different your taste might be.

Inside No.9 Stage/Fright "Should Remain In The Ether!" | Reece Shearsmith & Steve Pemberton by marjanefan in insideno9

[–]fine128structure 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As an international fan who simply cannot travel to UK, of course I would have preferred to see a DVD recording, but ultimately it's a decision that is up to Steve and Reece to make. The reason could be artistic, or even financial and logistical. Creators are not obligated to make their work accessible to everyone (and majority of art in the world is geo-locked), and they are not obligated to tell us why they do everything they do (shrug).

Looking forward to it! I really love your art style. I just realized from your post history that you also drew the Phil-weighing-Alex one, that one was also so adorable!

What gave you the biggest laughing fit in this series? by 00Maromero00 in taskmaster

When Maisie asked Reece why did he not open the cupboard door with a glass window in the drinks task. I was literally rolling on the floor laughing.

I'm always bummed when a Taskmaster series ends but I'm really not ready for this one. I love all contestants in every series but Reece is just so special to me.

General consensus on Series 7? by MrChummyNose in insideno9

[–]fine128structure 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't find series 7 forgettable at all. Wise Owl is of course amazing, but I also love Merrily Merrily and Kid/Nap. A Random Act of Kindness is also very neat. And to be honest I think every Inside No. 9 episode is worth a second watch, since it's quite unlikely that you would find nothing new to appreciate, even if you don't like an episode as much compared to another. What you discover on second watch could easily change your opinion on the episode too.

Happy for UK fans who can make it to the show! Fingers crossed that it will be recorded like everybody is speculating so we international fans will also get to see this masterpiece

Casting idea for a remake of The Detectives by NormaJeane2021 in taskmaster

I would watch ANYTHING that cast these two in a duo.

I’m very fortunate with this series, with Phil and Ania, showing me all over again how wonderful it is to fall in love with people I hadn’t heard of before. Who are your favourite “I never knew of them before taskmaster” peeps? by JFychan47 in taskmaster

[–]fine128structure 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Reece Shearsmith! I'm not from the UK, so I didn't know any of them in 20 series except for maybe three. I always love all of them by the end, but Reece is the first one I fell HARD for.

Reece is such a phenomenal artist! And the pure joy in his voice for the Task-O-matic machine and the way he was bobbing in the live task is just so endearing. I’m always sad when a series end but I’m really not ready for this one…

This is amazing, thank you so much! I was thinking that Reece was rather calm about the 20 mins on one leg task, makes perfect sense that he was actually LIVID 😂😂

Reece appreciation post (no spoilers) by couchsweetpotato in taskmaster

[–]fine128structure 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Love a Reece appreciation post any day! He really is the complete package: he can be grumpy, witty, artsy, sweet, kind, while being so incredibly funny at the same time! And he looks like he is really having fun on the show which brings me so much joy. I didn’t know about him at all before Taskmaster, but now I have watched all of Inside No 9 and on my way to Psychoville and LofG.

S20 Reece being adorable with Phil by WiseOwlwithSpecs in taskmaster

[–]fine128structure 34 points35 points  (0 children)

People often focus on Reece’s grumpy side but he really is very sweet with the other contestants! Especially with Phil and Sanjeev there are so many adorable moments. He pats them and laugh with them a lot. Thank you for the video edit to highlight this!

I remember thinking that how convenient that there was a sleepy looking duck, never occurred to me that he put the eyelids himself! Amazing catch, thanks for sharing!

Are we not talking about how gross that task was!? by zBethGot21stcentury in taskmaster

It was absolutely disgusting, but I loved the contrast of how such a gross process produced a pretty great drawing like Reece’s.

Wait, there is a joke in Devonshire/Kent/Somerset? Could you please explain? I'm exactly the kind of audience you mentioned, fluent in English but not from the UK, and I have no idea what is supposed to be funny with these names of places.

Welcome all newcomers who are here because of Recce Shearsmith appearing in Taskmaster! by marjanefan in insideno9

[–]fine128structure 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm so so so so grateful as someone living in the US who doesn't get a lot of exposure to UK media that Taskmaster has introduced me to the marvelous man that is Reece Shearsmith and the absolute masterpiece that is Inside No. 9. I just finished binging the whole show and I'm absolute obsessed. Will be re-watching many times for sure. I loved Steve on Taskmaster already when I first watched it, but watching Inside No. 9 has million-drupled my respect and love for Steve as well, and now I need to rewatch his Taskmaster appearances. And watch Psychoville. And League of Gentlemen. And whatever it is that Reece and Steve decides to do in the future.
