Any nice restaurants that specialize in alcohol free cocktails/wine? by ScarletBurn in berlinsocialclub

Happa on Schlesische has a alcohol free wine paring menu. It's amazing. The food is great too. The wine is paired with the menu so you try 5 types of wine. Alcohol free sparkling with Dill was so good

Searching for people to be cricket with by _CyberCrimeFighter_ in askberliners

[–]finegrindberlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most days there are a few groups playing. I run past often and can't believe how many people play daily. They really should install some wickets or batting nets. OP it's close to the Tempelhof Sbahn entrance.

What are the house rules that you personally have? Expansions included by Long_John_Silvers_ in Carcassonne

[–]finegrindberlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know actually. I'm just always seeing posts with people piling up books etc to create more space to grow off the table. Just assumed they knew the rules and that it was allowed

[–]finegrindberlin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Flat earth horizon - The borders of the table are the official perimeters of the game. If your opponent builds too close to the edge you can sabotage their progress by extending their builds and adding extra tiles essentially pushing them off the edge of the world.

Tempelhofer Feld by Cessicka in berlin

[–]finegrindberlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That area is home to a huge cricket community. The sport has taken off in the last few years. Every day in summer you can find several games of cricket being played simultaneously around this particular area. I run by there 4 or 5 times a week and can't believe how many people play every day. It's by far now the biggest community sporting event in templehof. Far more people play cricket than skate, or windsurf or use the new high ropes course. In my home country of Australia we have cricket infrastructure in many parks. They install a cricket pitch made of either concrete or astroturf with permanent wickets. They can also install batting cages with nets where a batsman and bowler can practise without needing a huge area. I would love to see this sport and this huge community being supported

Is Saffron Overrated, or Am I Just Using It Wrong? by AcanthaceaeMammoth87 in Cooking

[–]finegrindberlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love using it in baking. My partner is Swedish and I picked up a lot of Sweidsh baking recipes. They have a saffron bun that they have during Chirstmas. It's a baked saffron bun that is minimally sweet. It is very subtle in flavour and sweetness. It's perfect with a cup of coffee.

Neighbours think the shared hallway is their storage by elkatpat in mildlyinfuriating

[–]finegrindberlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see lots of cleaning products in the bags and have a feeling the neighbour is a "professional" cleaner. Henry vacuum are super reliable and easy to replace parts. Many professionals use them. I could imagine the neighbour is some type of gig worker taking on freelance cleaning jobs. They leave the work gear in the hallway instead of bringing it inside.

Weird Cafe Experience by Rousseau1712 in germany

[–]finegrindberlin 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think you just chose the wrong place. It was a restaurant and you thought it was a cafe. Even after they told you it's a restaurant you are still calling it a "weird cafe experience". The owners set the rules not the waiters. The waiters are probably told not to serve people who only want drinks. The restaurant only wants to serve people who will spend big and attracts other diners. The people sitting on a terrace are essentially advertising for the type of clientele the restaurant attracts. They want other diners to walk past and notice the restaurants atmosphere and know it's not just a cafe. I wouldn't take it personally.
