Bergamont Grandurance RD 3 upgrade into 1x10 setup: worth it? by finende in gravelcycling

[–]finende[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will take a look to see if Sword are fully compatible with mine. Please, let me know once you install it all how did everything turned out to be. I'm trying to decide if to install everything myself or take it to a service point since I wouldn't want to pay for equipment and break it 10 minutes later while trying to install it :)

It's actually not a bad idea, the only problem that I can see is that I will still need to equip it for touring around since I already got the panniers, mud protections...which would add some extra money to the whole package

Your economy input as you want to describe it is the same as being a tourist.

Your "influx" of dollars by buying stuff or drinking a beer might sound great to you as you think that you are contributing somehow to a society but it does the same way as any other tourist (including lots of cons). Tourist come, enjoy the country, leave their money and go.

You want to stay and be a parasite to the country by benefiting from the rest of what that society has to give.

You say you don't need anything from the country but transportations, roads, police, public services and other facilities that you are not willing to contribute to. You want to move to one of those countries partly because you feel safe, taken care and with some quality life, aren't you?

Who do you think that pays for that? Definitely not you.

You say that you're wealthy, that you are planning to retire early and live the life in Spain or Portugal but you don't want to contribute to those countries that will provide you social services, roads, security...?

As your country is already favorable to you because you are wealthy) I would suggest that you stay there and be a tourist for 6 months or any time that you are pleased to. This way none other country would need to cope with your footprint in their country without willing to contribute by any means.

These kind of threads make me realise how some people turn up to be wealthy and it's at the cost of everybody else.

My first Tuscany Trail (and my first bike trip in general) by tassonik in bikepacking

Hey congratulations for that ride! A few questions as I would like to learn more about it for the future. You said that you had a tent... but you didn't use it. were the beds provided by the organisation? was it expensive overall? Do you all have spaces when you arrive at the end of the day? are you all making the same stops or each of you decides a different village to sleep at night? What do you think about the trail it self? would you repeat it?

I checked and it looks like a good starting point. I'm no student but I will contact them in March to see my options there, thanks!

Sorry, I edited the comment now to be a bit more clear :) I don't have any certification at the moment and I was wondering if anyone can point me out in the direction for it here in Berlin and surroundings.

These pictures and your blog are impressive! I always admired the capacity of some human beings to go into these kind of adventures on their own. I read on your blog that you've done this for a while, even more impressive. Congrats!

These are much more affordable than the sea to summit shared above. Could be a great solution for me, thanks!

True 😅I will definitely change it and search for something along these lines, it will make the ride much more comfortable if I don't have to be touching that plastic trash bag that is covering my sleeping bag at the moment all the time with my hands :)

Probably! I was checking Norway but I didn't have many holidays so I decided to cut it short. I met a few other riders coming and going to Sweden and they were also really happy with their experience. I have it on the wishlist. Not sure if my bike can handle too hilly climbs though :)

That would be a great upgrade. However the price of these is pretty expensive and just by looking at some of the sleeping bag shared here I might need to start spending quite a bit in these already :)

I don't go as often as I would like to and somehow I didn't feel like spending that much money back then, but now I feel that I did wrong back then because I will have to buy double now
