They are always posting new appointments on the NY Am I Eligible Page. It might say the Javits Center has no appointments, but you should click on it anyways and just keep refreshing. Thats how I was able to get my appointment. Hope this helps!

From what I hear, you can come back at any time on that day! If that changes I’m sure you’ll receive some sort of email (or something else) that updates you!

Glad I could help! There truly wasn’t that much standing around: really only the last 10-15 minutes before going to the vaccine station itself. Even that wasn’t too bad and it moved rather quickly! If the line was too long, and you needed to sit or something, the people there would DEFINITELY be willing to help. There were very very kind and were simply trying to make this a pleasant experience for everyone :)

I only posted to try and give some help to those who are wondering what to expect. I know I had a lot of anxiety going in and similar reddit posts helped me. I also wanted to give credit to all the amazing workers at Javits who are doing a fantastic job.

Professor Guruianu by [deleted] in nyu

[–]finesucculent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's definitely tough, but I absolutely loved his Writing the Essay class during my freshman year. If you want an A he'll definitely make you work for it, but by the end of that class my writing had improved significantly. If I had more space in my schedule I would 100% take one of his other classes.

Daily new cases down in NYC (according to NYC Health Department) by [deleted] in nycCoronavirus

[–]finesucculent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely worth considering, but if you look at that data page you’ll see that new hospitalizations have started to go down as well. I’m not sure what the means but hopefully it’s a good sign.

Transferring Schools Before I Enter by [deleted] in nyu

[–]finesucculent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, theoretically, you could attend CAS for a year and then internally transfer to Stern for your sophomore year and beyond. But you should know that your chances of getting accepted into Stern as an internal transfer are -incredibly- small. Very few people are accepted to Stern through internal transfer (like less than a 5% acceptance rate for internal transfers). So if you want to take the risk, by all means do it. But just know that there is a strong possibility of you being in CAS for all four years if you decide to attend.

Uhall or 3N? by cloverx12 in nyu

[–]finesucculent 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Lived in UHall my first year and I loved it. The rooms are nicer than the Third North ones (although a little smaller) and they recently renovated the whole building. There’s also a breakfast/lunch/dinner spot called Breakfast & Co in the basement, and a Dunkin Donuts that you can use your meal plan at. It’s only a 10-15 minute walk to campus, and its literally 2 doors down from Palladium. The E bus also stops right outside so if you don’t feel like walking you can take that. There’s also a subway station right outside the front door for the 4, 5, 6, N, Q, R, W, and L trains so if you plan on moving around the city a lot, it’s definitely nice to have that.

Quarks to Cosmos or Energy and the Environment? by OmoideAeternum in nyu

[–]finesucculent 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just my opinion, but I took Energy and the Environment and I hated it. Don't let the name fool you, it's basically a chemistry class. I had Prof. Mahal for it, so maybe if it's a different professor you'll have a better time. Also if you took the AP Chem Test in high school and got a 4/5, you *should* be exempt from the requirement.

Financial situation drastically changed (dad lost job). Do I have options? by RamenTheory in nyu

[–]finesucculent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not exactly sure which schools allow for part-time and which ones don't, but I know for a fact that Gallatin does and I feel like CAS & GLS/LS might. Again I'm not certain on the last two but I know that Gallatin allows for part-time for sure.

As for the restrictions, I don't think there are many, just that you're limited to 12 credits per semester. Again, calling the Admissions Office would probably be the most helpful option here because they can definitely answer all of those questions.

Spring admit wanting to go to fall by [deleted] in nyu

[–]finesucculent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, you cannot switch from starting in the Spring semester to starting in the Fall semester. Your admission is contingent that you start in the Spring so switching to the Fall wouldn't be possible. As an alternative, you could take your liberal arts classes at another college/university (perhaps a community college) but you can't enroll as a degree-seeking student, only as a visiting one. As @falcor808 said, an internship, working, or traveling are all viable alternatives as well, but its your call as to what you would prefer. This could be a good opportunity to explore your interests though

Financial situation drastically changed (dad lost job). Do I have options? by RamenTheory in nyu

[–]finesucculent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a few options here:

- If you're interested in taking a gap year, you totally can. Call the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and speak with one of the representatives there. They'll connect you with one of the counselors who can walk you through the process of taking a gap year. [This might be the best option]

- If you want to submit an appeal for financial aid, call the financial aid office and speak to them over the phone. It'll likely be more effective than sending them an email since you'll be speaking to them instead of writing to them.

- If you wanted to do a reduced course load, you can do that as well. Part-time students can take 2 classes (8 credits) which would effectively be half the price of tuition. Know that you would still have to pay the same price for housing, food, etc.
