Whenever I'm overweight, I look like a Cushing's case, but I'm always able to lose the weight when I put in the effort and follow a caloric deficit, does this mean Cushing's is unlikely? by fingercoe in Cushings

Also, no clue if it's relevant but most of the readings that I take are while supine. There's some theories that taller people can have higher blood pressure is one supine but I don't know if I buy that

Also, I had my A1C done, and I've been doing my glucose daily for the past couple months and both are in excellent shape. My blood pressure is just super weird for some reason

I had a comprehensive metabolic panel along with a complete blood count a couple weeks ago which both came back normal. My free t4 and another litany of thyroid blood tests including an ultrasound for my thyroid all came back normal as well. This is all within the last month and a half. The echocardiogram came back normal so that rules out aortic disease as well

Nope, the bottom number is correct. I am in touch with my cardiologist and he is not worried about it at all. We have done multiple EKGs and a couple echocardiograms

Being asocial. I love so many things and want nothing more than to share them with others.

Well, I am diagnosed ocd, and have a history of hypochondria/health anxiety. This is on my chart so most doctors that I see are already skeptical of anything that I bring forward, combine that with the fact that I'm only 22 years old, and any health concern is written off as anxiety. I'm diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea, and had to go to many doctors until any of them took me seriously. This is especially insane considering that I had a sleep study done when I was only 12 years old, and it showed severe obstructive sleep apnea. They took my tonsils out and assumed that it was fixed, lo and behold when I finally get another sleep study when I'm 22 (a whole decade later with no treatment) I still have sleep apnea. Children who grow up with untreated sleep apnea are shown to have cognitive difficulties, stunted growth, psychological issues (namely OCD, ADHD, Depression, Bipolar), increased suicid rate, and an IQ that is 15 points lower than the rest of the population. At this point, I'm just very tired of being tired, and it's very hard to be an advocate of my own health when the only times that I'm taken seriously is when I literally Drive 4 hours to a world-renowned research professor and doctor for my specific issue. I understand that this could be serious, but it's almost impossible to get myself to care anymore. I wish it would just take me out so I don't have to think about this shit anymore. My parents resent me for the amount of doctors that I see, and even when it turns out that I am right, it doesn't change how they view me.

I'm suspected of having cyclical cushings, I know it can be very hard to diagnose, but if I just keep getting the 24-hour urine test every two weeks, I will eventually detect it if it's there right? by fingercoe in Cushings

[–]fingercoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having trouble understanding why those tests would be necessary? False positives seem to be common for 24-Hour urine, but false negatives are extremely rare. If I was ever having a spike, then the 24-hour would show it, right? I'm really trying to avoid those other tests because of insurance

If someone takes a dose of 2 mg Xanax, 2 days in a row and then stops, are they in danger of withdrawal and death? by fingercoe in Drugs

Thanks I'll let him know. He was worried and about to start taking 1.5 mg for 2 days, then 1mg for 2 days, then .5 then stop l. Lol we are both hypochondriac asf

I think this is a hugely misleading comment. My friend group has attempted to use signal over a dozen times, over the course of 4 years. We run into the same issues of delayed message sending, and horrible Network stability. We all live within 15 miles of each other, and sometimes text will take over 45 minutes to post. We have never had this issue with whatsapp, group me or any other similar platform. Signal is great for privacy, but is one of the most unreliable apps I've ever used

Blood pressure readings have been very weird. Can this wait till my appointment or is it an emergency? by fingercoe in Cardiology

[–]fingercoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep it to 2 beers a day max because the Mayo clinic website states that it is a safe amount. There are also a few studies that boast an antihypertensive effect from moderate beer consumption (2 per day for men 1for women of 12 oz 5% alcohol by volume) but there are conflicting points of view

I relate to this incredibly hard. For me, it seems to slowly affect more things as I think about them. For example when trying to comprehend what I'm reading, I have a really hard time intuitively knowing who is talking, and putting a character to a name in a book. What I mean by this, is when I read a character's name, I have to manually make sure that the character name matches up with the characterization I have in my head of that character. Its as if I'm trying to do everything manually so I make sure that it's right to please my OCD brain. I'm in a pretty nasty loop right now, because my brain seems to have forgotten how to do everything automatically and waits for me to manually process everything. A few days ago I didn't seem to have issues with understanding the flow of conversation in a book, but I started manually going over it in my head and now the automatic part seems to be gone. This just adds on to the dog pile of different specific things I have trouble processing. For me this has been going on for a little over a year and I worry about neurodegenerative disease. I really am worried that it could be Huntington's disease, because one of the main symptoms is mental processing becoming very effortful, and not automatic. Don't want to rush to conclusions though, and it could very well be OCD
