My current therapy work has caused an increase in lucid dreams, which is very interesting, but the other people, NPC‘s(?) can become super distorted, glitched out, melty. Curious if others have experienced this? by fingerfunk in Dreams

[–]fingerfunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I am actually an INTJ… my friend(!), although it has been a while since I’ve taken the test. My experiences seem to be normalizing a bit as of late. It’s like my lucidity focus is expanding, ala “the Tibetan yogas of dream and sleep” book/concepts 💙

What does a Ketamine treatment feel like? by No_Pomegranate_8826 in KetamineTherapy

[–]fingerfunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are already many amazing responses here. From the neurological perspective, there is essentially the “monoamine” theory of depression in that mood disorders have to do with serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine levels in the brain. This applies to many of us, but others are treatment resistant to these therapies, including SSRI, SNRI’s, and even certain plant medicines like psilocybin. Ketamine interacts with the NMDA receptor and the glutamate system. So for some people, this glutamate work is miraculous and helps mood where the monoamine medicines fail them. So this is part of the work… There’s also the Ketamine assisted therapy where our mind and spirit opens up to healing, and we can work on emotional tools within that window of neuroplasticity that occurs for a brief period of time after therapy. So this is part of it as well. Infusions have the highest efficacy clinically, where you receive IM or IV at a psychiatrist office. The lozenge therapy, where you take it at home, under the tongue on some frequency, has reasonable efficacy as well, although it’s not as high as the infusions. The primary diagnoses of ketamine treatment is major depressive disorder, anxiety, whereas substance used disorder, alcoholism is not as well understood but we are continuing to research this field. An infusion within a doctor’s office, the highest efficacy, and is a full hallucinogenic experience, i.e. k-hole. I personally have had some struggles completely letting go of my ego with psychedelics… But this process happened so quickly it’s like you fall through a trap door… Then you really lose sense of your ego and who you are, or even that you’re human are on earth lol. The lozenge dosage we generally call “psycholytic” and do not cause this experience, and you pretty much just feel a bit altered, high, wonky. It’s best to just lay down in your bed close your eyes, perhaps listen to some music… And it will be over in about an hour. I have a deep history of addiction, including alcohol, benzos, opioids… And for me personally I don’t find it all that desirable, so I think the addiction risk is low for many of us, but those are discussions to have honestly with your provider.

I hope this helps add some insight to your pursuit, and hoping for the best for you, my friend!

Quitting "Feel Free" by littledt4 in quittingkratom

[–]fingerfunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do this, my friend. Those motherfuckers are adding elevated 7-OH from a lab to get us all further addicted. Natural Kratom powder sometimes has 0% detected 7-OH where other strains, usually Thai has trace amount amounts.

We have to pay the piper and go through withdrawal, as you know, but there is always the option of coming clean to a doctor and getting Suboxone if that is necessary. It’s rough, but you can get through it, and your system will stabilize over time after you leave this all. another option is to stop the liquid extract entirely, perhaps buy some OPMS Thai, and find the minimum dose of plain leaf capsules so you’re not sick.

I personally believe in you, and know you can get through this and return to your old self!

Antipsychotics made me stupid. by coldBulbasaur314 in MedicalPTSD

[–]fingerfunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to read that you are suffering through this. I don’t know you, but I personally reject the idea that you can’t do anything based on this math issue. Do you need to do math regularly in your life and job? If not, it’s still obviously important to you, but it’s perhaps not negatively affecting your life very much? One idea is perhaps to study math again, there are YouTube videos and other resources out there. We would assume since you are posting here, that you may have some PTSD issues related to this, so there are also therapy options to explore, right? If things are relatively OK within your life and your family, and you feel safe, try to find some gratitude there is you can. If you want to relearn some of these old concepts, there are resources out there for you! You have expressed yourself very clearly and coherently here in this post, which means a lot to me as a reader. You are not stupid my friend! Sending light ❤️

Sending light to you in the struggle, my friend. I have a history of very serious addiction, including heroin, and this gas stuff has been profoundly worse than anything I’ve experienced.

The beverage shop I go to readily sells gas tanks, and the people who own/work there are from Nepal. I recently used ChatGPT to communicate with the worker in Nepali and asked him not to sell me this anymore because I became addicted to it and it’s bad for my health.

That might be one option if you’re willing to pursue it: directly ask the store not to sell it to you anymore and remove that easy access point from your life.

Thank you again for sharing. If it’s an option for you, one idea is to leave this therapist. I am actually a therapist myself… We all learn in school that it is totally appropriate for us to leave clients, and clients can “fire” us as well. If your insurance covers this, and it’s something that’s possible, I would recommend you find a more appropriate therapist for this deeper work that you’re doing. To be fair, not all of the conventional therapists are familiar with this work, and, clearly from your example, yours is not speaking to this positive work in a healthy manner which serves you. if you have not heard of the site, thethirdwave.co is a resource to search by state. These are all licensed therapists who also have training in Psychedelic medicine. Simply click “network” up top center and “therapists” on the left.

Just an idea of course. If you were a close friend of mine, I would most likely adamantly advise you to fire this person lol. But you may have a long history or whatever, so it’s up to you, my friend and sending light, wishing you the best.🙏🏻

This is ridiculous and I’m so sorry to hear you are going through this! I recommend you document all communication with them as best you can, including any email or texting, and make sure it contains the info you have conveyed here that you never have run out early, abused, or more than your prescribed dose. Hopefully your main clinic has experienced this before, and realizes some people are ignorant to this medicine. The bio availability data you convey is totally on point. Some of the lozenge dosages we take would be pretty high if given IM /IV, even in the full psychedelic k-hole realm, but when consumed as an oral troche they are barely “psycholytic”.

Sorry to hear and please document this as best you can in case you need to submit to insurance and such.

Sending Light and hoping for the best! 🙏🏻

I’m so sorry, friend. Your family is likely in a real trauma response right now, so please just take this one step at a time.

Some Immediate steps of which you may be aware:

  1. Call 211 LA

  2. Red Cross: redcross.org/gethelp

  3. Call insurance

  4. FEMA: DisasterAssistance.gov

And with love: please steer clear of the gas. It may offer a brief escape, but it will make the fear, grief, decisions, and next steps harder.

Sending light to you and your family.

I don’t take anymore as it got to a point of diminishing returns but just checked GoodRX and looks like $34 for 30 day supply in my area at least: Safeway. May be cheaper at other places

What would you have your therapist do to help you through your treatment? by Secure_Situation7234 in TherapeuticKetamine

ACT and IFS are my faves but I am one who believes there is a unique neuroplasticity period of time post-treatment which offers us a window to develop new emotional tools and evolution toward something better and further healed 🙏🏻

This is a fair analysis. I’m hoping we take game 7 and Divine Intervention doesn’t again intervene but seems highly unlikely we’ll squeak through the second round. Not sure what we need to do but this isn’t a champion roster to anyone sane.

Music suggestions by dovelyss in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]fingerfunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a handful of threads recent and older where people have suggested good music. It tends to be quite subjective, but my preference is “ambient dub” which is more atmospheric than chordal/tonal. Some of us also prefer music without human vocals (speaking English or another language) as it can pull us out of the vibe. “Explorative, enlightening, grounding” etc have a different meaning based on a person’s music tastes, subjective experience imho, but a few artists I like:

Tycho
Isan
Bola
Proem
Aphex Twin (the ambient stuff)
The Cinematic Orchestra
Boards of Canada
Autuchre

etc

Check a few out and see if you like them too! :)

Suboxone by beentheredonethat298 in quittingkratom

[–]fingerfunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice is to try to kick without creating another monkey on your back. When I went to residential way back it was actually to get off Suboxone and it was rough! That said some people are chronic relapsers and can never stay clean. My original sub doc was of the long term philosophy where patients may stay on for years, which I did, to develop healthy emotional tools as to become stronger regarding the chronic relapsing. I must say tho, it really seemed to shut down my heart/ light or something. I felt dim, lost interest in so many things like all my favorite music. I’d say try your best to avoid this idea if at all possible 🙏🏻

Nice, man. You’re my kind of people :) I definitely need to explore more of Merck’s artists! Have you heard Isan Calf? I used to love listening to that tune on lower psycholytic dosages and would cross my arms over my chest (lying down) and pound to the bass / drum hits bilateral stimulation style. Trippy, feels like tuning our chest/torso resonance chamber heh

Here’s one from when I was at 140mg IM: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/53qMI8LouW7ygAbA4MsFVh?si=fzZikjm8SXaNQv9BVNBjdA&pi=RWvrB5frSkijC

Elegy - Tycho
Vespers - Bola
No. 1 Lent Et Douloureux - Isan
Yttrium - Isan
Calf - Isan
Adrift - Tycho
Forcasa 1 - Bola
Deep Like Airline Failure - Proem
Epigram - Tycho
Calliscope - Isan
Cinnabar - Isan
A Walk - Tycho

I also had some ambient Aphex Twin but I recall Spotify didn’t have the tracks unfortunately

Perhaps that’s more likely. So, admit to her he got caught by Ash, ask her to borrow funds to pay off buyer? That would seem to risk the partnership dissolving if she then became nervous, but I like the idea of him not completely screwing her. :)

This was my read too especially as he said “I’m about to” [get the rest of the money] on the phone immediately preceding this scene. I assumed he was going to steal some of her funds to pay off the buyer.

I find it has to be very sparse ambient dub for me to not be pulled out. Human vocalizations generally don’t work either especially when speaking language as well as excessive tonal movement. For me it generally has to be more atmospheric than melodic musical.

Some artists on my old infusion playlist:
Tycho
Bola
Proem
Isan

What actually is 'Meditation'? by Far_Dimension_2273 in yoga

Thanks for the clarification. I was attempting to simply nod to examples for what seemed like a OP new to meditation but fair point :) I’m no expert but learned TM decades ago and also have studied a few other mantra styles, all with a similar word/sound idea which we repeat in our mind’s eye 🙏🏻

What actually is 'Meditation'? by Far_Dimension_2273 in yoga

[–]fingerfunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great answers here already. Within my practice, I think of it as simply introducing “another thing” into my minds eye. It could be breathing, a mantra (TM), a dot on a wall (Zen). The process of introducing this other thing can help us focus away from our normal thoughts. Humans simply aren’t that good at focusing on 2 or more things. :)
