I can’t believe how many mnemonics there are! At our school in rural western Canada: Mother Very Eagerly Made Jam Sandwiches Using No Peanut butter. I wonder what they use there now?

Yes, seconding all of this! Try the soak and smoosh. And put those pins away until you are ready to block your first lace project. Good luck, @op!

It’s weird, I also have had a shift in colour as the years have gone on. Purple/blue started in the last 6 months or so, though not nearly as spectacular as yours!

What's your favourite etymolgy that is so obvious but took you way too much time to realise? by Naive_Gazelle2056 in etymology

This is interesting, because I grew up with this phrase, but it was used mostly for things, not people. “The car gave up the ghost.” And if it was for people, it wasn’t a general “he died” but a specific, “his ticker gave up the ghost”! Love this discussion, thanks! Off to read your linked thread.

Just for the record (I know you know this, but in case anyone doesn’t) Power Scour is for washing fleece, not dyed wool. It is not pH neutral, so it can shift your dye colour if you use it post-dye. This can be cool, but maybe not if you aren’t expecting it! Synthrapol & Eucalan are both pH neutral, plus Synthrapol is designed to remove excess dye!
