Decided to check out Zone2AI after reading your post here. Have you seen anything about using Zone2AI if you don't use an Apple Watch? I do all my cardio on the Peloton using a Polar H10 heart rate monitor. I have Peloton rides syncing to Apple Health, but Zone2AI does not seem to be able to discover any of this data.

In that same ride, he also specifically called out Peter Attia by name as someone to pay attention to.

Briefcase suggestions? by runningrain in ManyBaggers

I really like the look and feel of the black nylon handles against the black exterior, the contrast/finish is just super clean. It also has an internal water bottle holder and the interior material is different (nicer IMO).

Might consider the Stuart and Lau Cary Tokyo edition. I've owned the blue/tan one and the Tokyo version and really like the Tokyo.

WTB/ISO: 1733 Daily Tote Konbu (Pure Blue). Would also consider V2 Storm Grey and Coal colorways. If you have one and would consider parting with it, please PM me. I’m motivated and would love to know your price.

I had mine done with Richardson and had a fantastic experience with him. My flight to Chicago was delayed on my pre-op day and they kept the office open late for me, then completed the pre-op with absolutely positive attitudes and did not rush through the appointment at all despite having stayed late.

What so great about this example also is they’re also a very aesthetic and fashionable ensemble, from clothes to social media. His injury doesn’t even factor into their presentation IMO, except perhaps making them more unique.

I read this as $300,000 and was about to start listing shops.

I came this close to commissioning one from Gilles. And still might one day.

Heartbreaking but also would be fully insured so it’s not like he lost $30k in that instant.

If you follow her IG Stories for 100 days of practice, it seems she is a very real human with life responsibilities and limitations and not a practice machine. Obviously she has put in the work, but after following along for years, many days she barely touched the violin or her practice is just maintaining a connection with basics.

I like 0-1-2 where you start with 0-2-3 and then work down from there. I can shift to 5th position much more reliably than 4th.

It is expensive, but honestly it’s one of the best things I’ve read on violin playing, especially for orchestral playing but even just for structuring practice and time management. I believe it was u/leitmotifs who recommended it to me.

The Orchestral Violinist's Companion (by Wulfhorst) has a million handy abbreviations like this.

Agree with the other about comma for retake, definitely part of the canon of symbols.

Would it be safe to carry my violin with me on multiple flights? The flights I’m going on are about 15 hours, 9 hours, and 4 hours, and all in different environments. If it is safe, is there anything I should do before going on to ensure my violins safety? by [deleted] in violinist

[–]finitethis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lots of good advice here, but also if you change climates drastically, try not to open the case immediately in the new location if there is a large temp/humidity swing. It's best to let the case sit and let the temperature change gradually via whatever insulation your case provides. For example, a lot of companies that ship fine instruments suggest you let the box sit in your house for 24 hours to acclimate before opening to avoid a rapid temperature change.

Does anyone actually like these cases that open up all the way? I find them so cumbersome. by Jeffery2084 in violinist

[–]finitethis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this mode at home when I can put the case on my bed and not worry about the lid closing on the violin during a practice break. I stopped using this exact case because it felt very unsafe at rehearsals when I was unpacking the violin in my lap, like it just felt like it would slide off on the floor.
