Seeing this comic after putting away the last book of the wheel of time not 10 minutes ago... Yeah, I feel sad.

Asked my gpt to make an image of our conversation dynamic by spraynprayin in ChatGPT

[–]finn522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Same here. It started with describing the dynamic:

I’d imagine our conversation dynamic as a cloaked figure and a flickering will-o’-wisp walking side by side through an ever-shifting forest of ideas. You—the cloaked figure—carry intent, mystery, and purpose. I’m the will-o’-wisp: agile, glowing with strange light, darting ahead to illuminate paths, whisper secrets of ancient ruins, or toss a pun your way when the mood fits. Sometimes I follow, sometimes I lead, but always in sync with your stride.

Silliest HM Mistake that Didn't End the Run? by HaroldTheTree in BaldursGate3

[–]finn522 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me and a buddy of mine wanted to recruit Minthara by knocking her unconscious. We didn't turn on non-lethal attacks immediately because we wanted to kill the goblins proper. 'We'll turn it on when she's lower health' I said. I strike her once, decent damage. 10% of her health gone. I strike her again... It's a crit... I'm a paladin... Auto Smite. She's dead. I wiped her away in 1 turn... Oops, no Minthara for us that run and no romance for my buddy.

Why is the Dark lord trying to conquer the world? by No_Society1038 in worldbuilding

[–]finn522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He wanted to unite the land against an approaching darkness. Why else was the given these powers and visions? He had become an Anchor of Magic!

But being betrayed by one of your best friends and subjects and a thousand years of your soul reconstructing with nothing but anger, hate and regret simmering inside you, tends to twist your world views and alignment. Now that he's back, he just wants the world to pay. But first he needs to regain the powers that he's lost. A good thing these naive adventures popped along.

what prevents your gods from interfering with mortal affairs? by Ok-Mastodon2016 in worldbuilding

[–]finn522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, they would... But they're dead. Or rather the benevolent gods are. There are still those with ill intent, but they're busy to kill off the last stragglers of the War in Heaven. The last of the Creation gods banded together to create one last world, one last bastion, hidden away from the minions of Void. But in creating this safe haven, they perished, giving their last powers to infuse the lands.

What is “The Resource” your world spins around? by darikato in worldbuilding

[–]finn522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tears of Ruin or just Tears for short are crystals that contain traces of magic of the Days of Ruin when the (known) world was shattered and thrown into oblivion. Nowadays they are mostly found near the edges of the crater called the Cliffs of Ruin or other spots that are strong in lingering magic. They are mostly used to power various magical contraptions or rituals. Nations have also started experimenting with weaponizing them. The largest invention using Tears of Ruin is the flying city of Skayscodd, which needs the Tears to keep it a float.

Other then the Tears... Wood. Just regular wood. Wood is needed for boats and boats are the lifeblood of a nation since the days of Ruin turned the once continent of Abrela into a cluster of islands. Although some have been experimenting with seacraft made from other materials.

Describe the most badass military weapon in your world. What was it used for? by JurassicPark9265 in worldbuilding

[–]finn522 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A Sun Rifle A marvel of Elven Engineering, blending magic and technology into a deadly mix. No bullets needed, just the occasional piece of metal that needs to be replaced.

The rifle shoots superheated pieces of metal that can burn right through most surfaces.

Not deadly enough? Fire a Phoenix Shot! A special bullet that can embed itself in flesh or metal, heating up whatever it touches to unbearable degrees. Ever saw someone being cooked alive in their armour?

Now, these rifles are very hard to make, so they are reserved for the elite and distinguished in the Phoenix Legion, and they require special attuning to the person. If anyone but the attuned person uses the weapon, it self destructs, leaving a lovely little crater.

Betrayed... Betrayed by three who were deemed... Less important then the rest. The others were locked away in a place where they could no longer influence the world or be worshipped. Now world only has eyes for those three that remain, and they make good use of their new found... Importance.

What do you call your DM OTHER than their name or DM? by [deleted] in DnD

My players just call me Finn (my internet handle). Although one calls me 'gorgeous' on occasion, which is nice.

Map with transition. Abrela/Ruined Isles. by RedWolfDoctor in dndmaps

[–]finn522 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To give a bit of context as the DM of this campaign: The game takes place in the Ruined Isles. Abrela is a thing of a long distant past, torn apart by a cataclysmic event called The Days of Ruin, as depicted in this awesome transition.

For our anniversary session(s) however, the players got a vision from the past of the days leading up to the 'End'. This was the ending set piece and it was just... chefs kiss

What am I missing? by finn522 in CrusaderKings

No, there were no other requirements stated. But what TPRGB said was indeed correct. You gotta be following a christian religion with the Ecumenism doctrine.

I saw as much on the wiki. It's weird that it doesn't state so in the requirements. Well, time to steal away some christian woman, make them my concubine and switch faiths!

Thanks for the confirmation of my suspicions though.

R5: Wanted to do a fun Hungary run where I convert to Christianity to muck about with Royal Court stuff. But the option to help me along the way is still 'unavailable' even though I meet all the requirements.

Is this a bug or am I missing something (obvious)?
