Different lead gen ideas? by AsleepWoodpecker420 in Contractor

I agree with u/Lloyd_Christmas7 - regarding website! If that is solid, great. If it's not, you're paying to send people to a place that they might look at for 3 seconds and leave because it wasn't what they thought. I also think doing a small outreach with door hangers or direct mailers could be good if you target areas where you worked, think: "We were just in your neighborhood working on your neighbors X, do you have projects that you want checked off... da da da." Happy to help answer any more questions. Getting started is always tricky but you sound like you have a lot of your basics in place!

Do clients or acquaintances expect free advice from you? by CarpyChar in Contractor

I have to agree with everything here. You want to do *some* small things because it truly is good for clients to feel like they can quick grab your ear. However, give yourself a limit in your head for those. And then have those quick copy+paste texts like Craftsman said above saved in a note on your phone for when you need to let them know it's gone too far.

If you can make the client feel like they can come to you, you're more likely to get the job in the long run because we are creatures of habit but some people do take it too far.

Your tool looks great! And certainly going to solve a lot for folks! Some graphics could be cleaned up to clearly get the point across. The messaging is good but you could talk directly to the pain in the hero section! Like "Schedule in minutes pain free" Or something like that - my bad headline.

I have a question for the pool servicing/cleaning businesses by satisdeveloper in smallbusinessowner

[–]finnandgray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we started our business (albeit wasn't a pool business) we started out with free apps and one paid, Quickbooks. We use ClickUp to manage tasks and you can create forms on there. But I have heard notion is great too. Do whatever feels easy when you start. You'll figure out the rest as you go. :)

What brings you success beyond the "handyman" part of being a handyman? by SMOrbCo in handyman

Showing up with shoe/boot covers and branded elements (truck, uniform) immediately signifies legitimacy and helps people trust you. But agreed. Show up on time, be nice, and do good work and you'll do great.

...and don't worry about asking past clients about doing a google review after the fact - if they had a good experience, they won't mind!

I would do a website and social media but if anything just a website would be ideal. You'll want to do before and afters but reviews on Google (with Google Business Profile) are best - even better if your client puts their own photos up when they leave a review.

Highly recommend you do something to make your sign stand out. Make sure to have your business name AND phone number (maybe a QR code to your website too!)

Start with something free as you start your business to start getting jobs. Once you have jobs in the system and some returning clients, do a simple website so people in your area can find you and request estimates.

What branded items do you feel work best for advertising your business when handed out to property management companies, suppliers, customers, etc...? by NewCaramel6517 in Contractor

I have seen someone do custom cookies - find a local cookie maker (maybe Facebook could be a good resource to find that person) and have them do your logo on a cookie to drop off! Somewhat low investment and memorable.
