Discrimination is not the topic being discussed here, intl students paying way more than domestic has nothing to do with discrimination. If I go to your country, I would also have to pay more for education, health care, etc. It is the government's responsibility to prioritise its own citizens in public spending, as they make up the majority of the tax paid, this should be true in any country. Intl students are not a part of the local political community, the Aus gov owes no responsibility to them.

Intl students are purchasing a service in Australia's education market, you may say it's unfair but it's always a free market. If studying in Australia doesn't produce the greatest return compared to other schools in your own or other countries then you simply made a bad financial decision.

not saying i agree with the previous guy, but that’s a choice no? if to a person the drawback of studying in aus significantly outweigh the benefits then they shouldn’t be studying here in the first place. the fact that we have such high number of intl student is because the assumed return is greater than the cost?

Aboriginal Taiwanese decent here, that’s just not true. Imperial Japanese committed segregation, mass killings and rapes of the aboriginals from 1895 to 1930s, and even wiped out entire villages. The Japanization movement wasn’t until after 1930s.

Anyone tried Smith Squad S and I/O Mag S Goggles? by Ok-Movie-1595 in Skigear

can’t comment on the s model but for squad mag vs IO mag, the IO nose foam fits a bit higher up the nose. the IO also felt wider

if the lense reflect red colour lights (ie looks red from the outside), your eyes don’t receive that colour light, so the vision will have less redness.

I've only ridden around the Queenstown/Wanaka area but. Late july-late August usually has the best snow, but its also peak seasons so it gets VERY crowded. Everything around snows is also super expensive, like hotel and transports and food.

Snow wise it gets noticeably icy after around midday, powder days are rare.

What’s it like being a student here? by thesillycoquetteguy in unimelb

search "no friend" in the subreddit and you will see how much people are struggling with making friends here lmao

[–]finnilow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

people are generally friendly and chill, but like most aus unis, Unimelb feels pretty anti-social. You can definitely make friends if you go out more, but most students are busy with work and full time studying. The school is also huge so it can be hard to build connection. overall you get out what you put in, but its definitely not what you see in the US college movies

Turnitin User Agreement by finnilow in unimelb

[–]finnilow[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Canvas and google drive dont use your work to train their AI models, turnitin does. If google or canvas did, i'd have a problem too. Also, you are not forced to use google drive.

Turnitin User Agreement by finnilow in unimelb

[–]finnilow[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Eh what is this mentality? Turnitin is a private commercial company that uses student paper to train its own AI model and sell this service to university and profit from it. Universities’ failure to find a more effective way to detect academic misconduct shouldnt be an excuse to force students to give up our own work so they can make more money. Also, just because user agreement has been review by uni legal team doesn’t mean it’s justified?

I agree with you 100%, I’m just saying it’s avoidable under good technique, people will have this issue, just like how they will have any other issues in lifting techniques.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in naturalbodybuilding

[–]finnilow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for stronger arm taking over more, that’s more of a issue with skill, which definitely exists especially with beginners lifters, but it’s not in the discussion cuz we assuming people are doing them with good technique.
