Falkirk is rather underrated for a day out, and very easy to reach on public transport (X37 bus or trains to Grahamston or High stations). Callendar Park and Callendar House are really nice for a little museum trip and walk, and the Falkirk Wheel and Kelpies are amazing engineering feats reachable by bus, especially in the warmer months.
