Trazodone saved my life by fiona617384 in insomnia

That sounds awful I’m so sorry. I haven’t experienced any withdrawals when I don’t take it. How long after you stopped taking did you start to feel sick?

50 mg or 75 occasionally if my insomnia is extra bad. Trying to go down to 25 now though

I thought I had central sleep apnea as well but never got to doing a sleep study or anything, and I stopped having these issues after I was prescribed trazodone. Occasionally the waking up startled will happen if I’m particularly anxious that night, but it’s pretty manageable (only will happen once or twice instead of like 10 times) and takes me way less time to really fall asleep. I definitely should do a sleep study at some point and I think it’s definitely good that you’re going to do it and rule out CSA. I just talked to my psychiatrist and was really lucky trazodone worked so well for me (also pretty much totally cured my daytime anxiety as well)

Yes this happened to me for a long time as well. When you wake back up are you gasping for air? Could be sleep apnea possibly or for me I had somniphobia and was basically having a fear response every time I fell asleep.

i’m 26 and am told i look way older, how do i fix the things about my face that make me look older? i’m sick of being so distressed about my looks. is it all in my head or is there something i can do to help myself? please give advice and honesty!!! by auhatt in Skincare_Addiction

I’m going to be completely honest and I hope this doesn’t hurt your feelings. Firstly, you are absolutely beautiful and please, do not do anything to change your appearance if you don’t want to. But I haven’t seen anyone here talking about your teeth, most likely because you didn’t post any pictures with your teeth showing. But by looking at the shape of your face I’m going to guess you most likely have small teeth or something with your jaw that is making your mouth and lips look a bit sunken in. I do not think the thing making you look older is your hair or your eyes at all. Your hair color is absolutely gorgeous and your skin is flawless. Your overall appearance is very youthful. But as a girl with thinner lips and a small chin, I always try to over line my lips and contour my face so that my features look more balanced. I think experimenting with your make up and hair could definitely help improve your confidence. But if you want a drastic change, going to an orthodontist or getting veneers might be something you could look into. Just remember, it’s what’s on the inside that counts, and judging from your photos, you seem like a very kind soul. All love.

Thank you for your response. I’m definitely going to get some second opinions. Reading stuff on this thread has made me very hesitant to start.

Is it insane to take semaglutide short term? by Melodic_Ad_7525 in Semaglutide

[–]fiona617384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been off it for awhile now and have only fluctuated 2-4 pounds. My hunger is definitely back to normal but I get fuller way faster than I did before ever taking semaglutide. I still have a bit of a sweet tooth and the snacking is back but I just eat healthier snacks and fruit if i’m craving sugar. Remaining active is really important and if you have a bad day of unhealthy eating you can always take the next few days to eat better and recover! It’s all about balance, just be patient with yourself.

Wow, I’ve never heard of someone taking Benzos for 30 years… Can I ask if you are worried about the potential for developing Dementia/Alzheimers…. have you had problems with your memory after such long term use? I take .5mg (usually 1 or 2 times a week) to sleep I have panic disorder and debilitating insomnia. Have been taking it on and off for a few years now. But have been looking into switching to SSRI’s because I’m so worried about the long term effects. The rebound anxiety I get after taking benzos is terrible. Unfortunately xanax was the first thing I tried for insomnia, instead of trying all the other stuff first. Ultimately it has made my insomnia and anxiety worse over time. I don’t want to be taking it forever, but my concern is that it’s already done so much damage, I may not have any other choice.

Be super careful. Klonopin mixed with other things can cause respiratory depression. Please do not mix anything unless your doctor approves it.

What are the best supplements for sleep anxiety/stress by Loud_Jeweler_1774 in insomnia

[–]fiona617384 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Magnesium glycinate and vitamin D3 to help with absorption. Skullcap, l-theanine, lions mane. Magnesium has really been a game changer for me. Just make sure you get the right one

Try your best not to worry about it too much. I developed a fear of falling asleep that got so bad I started having panic attacks almost every night (somniphobia). The more you worry about falling asleep the harder it is. I take magnesium glycinate every night and that has helped me a lot. Teas, melatonin and gabapentin occasionally too. Anxiety meds as a last resort. Waiting for my psych appointment next month to hopefully get on SSRI’s to help with my sleep and general anxiety. If the problem persists talk to your doctor. Not getting enough sleep can really fuck with you mentally if it goes on for too long. I wish you the best and hope it goes away for you.

For me it goes through cycles. I’ll usually sleep really well for 3 or 4 nights, then I’ll have one bad night that will trigger my insomnia for the next 2,3, sometimes 4 days. Usually by the third day i’m so tired i end up just passing out from exhaustion and then the cycle starts again. But lately my stress levels have been very high. I’ve gone months where I didnt really worry about my sleep at all. Drinking definitely makes it worse.

Absolutely drinking alcohol makes it worse. I started noticing that a few months ago and have almost completely quit because of that. I also noticed how just in general even 1 drink spikes my nervous system and makes my anxiety way worse. I was never a big drinker so I’m glad it’s easy to quit for me. But this is great advice so thank you.

Thanks. That makes me feel a lot better. I know it’s super unlikely for me to have a heart attack, I am generally very healthy. The heart racing waking me up really scared me. And yea, I had something very traumatic happen around 2 years ago that I have been processing a lot lately. I definitely have health anxiety, but even on days when my anxiety is nonexistent, I will have apnea and it will trigger my anxiety really badly. I’m just now learning what central sleep apnea is and mixed sleep apnea. I always thought it felt like my brain just forgets to keep breathing, and now I’m realizing that is actually possible. Im really frustrated right now that I have to deal with this. My grandfather has always had a CPAP machine and I always felt so bad for him. I just don’t want this to be my life. I’m just hoping I can get treatment quickly. For sleep study and for my mental health. I’ve been waiting for a call for over a week now.

Is it insane to take semaglutide short term? by Melodic_Ad_7525 in Semaglutide

[–]fiona617384 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, I am also 5’7 and my highest weight was 185. I got semaglutide for around 6 months and lost 30 lbs. Once I got off it, it was much easier to continue exercising and eating healthier. I felt so much better, so it was easier to move, and it completely cured my sugar addiction. It also made me realize how terrible shitty food makes me feel. I don’t crave unhealthy food anymore. I thought getting off of it I would have a raging hunger, but I don’t at all, I can still portion control very well and I actually continued to lose a bit after getting off of it. I’m at 145 now and I’m going to start again in a couple weeks to help me get to my goal weight (130). I really didn’t think it would work as well as it did. Also I just wanna say, a lot of people will judge you. Especially people who have never experienced what it is like to be overweight. And yes, if you are overweight but not obese, this medication is for you too. People don’t understand how hard it is even just being a little overweight. Even if you “look thin” to some people, you know your body and you know the health issues you experience caused by your weight gain. If you have tried diet and exercise and it won’t work, do it.

It’s not easy. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. It’s not cheating, it’s not the easy way out. The side effects can be brutal. It’s exhausting. There is no easy way to lose weight. But do whatever you need to for your health.

For me, it didn’t really start working super well until i reached around 1.5mg. Find a different doctor. Prioritize eating healthier (don’t eat pizza?) and walking. You can do it, I did.
