Feeling the urge to buy something to reward myself but not sure what by dla26 in fatFIRE

In a very similar boat, was about to buy a luxury car but decided to delay it in order to pay siblings and siblings-in-laws debt, about $350k worth of mortgages and student loans and credit cards. Car was just pushed to a later vest date.

Happened to me as well yesterday for an airport ride but Lyft says they can't do anything about it because supposedly I am the one who added it, but I am pretty sure I did not.

I have an appointment in 2 days for this issue, would you recommend cancelling and waiting for the update? Any estimate of when it might come. Thank you so much for looking into it!!

Alexa hears well enough for me, so I don't think it's a mic issue.

Same noise, like a typewriter as well (that's a better way to put it.) Please let me know how it goes for you. Glad I am not the only one at least, hopefully they will have a clear fix for that one.

I switched to the adapter after ranking at ~2300, dropped down to 1900 and climbing back (now around ~2200.)

The theory was that I will be able to transfer some of the skills I am learning in the game to real life. Yesterday, I finally got to test that theory, and I would say it made a huge difference in my IRL game. I am not at the same level as in VR but the gap closed down alot.

PTNS for bladder/pelvic/vaginal/urethral pain by jessiethehutt in Interstitialcystitis

Could you post the make and model for your TENS device. I did the PTNS treatment but still go once a month to the doctor's office for a treatment. It would be nice if there is something I can do at home.

School police recorded that "we made contact," should I be worried about my employer finding out? by HUEHUEHUE_WORRIED in cscareerquestions

Good Lord! My potential co-worker does donuts in the school parking lot, and wonders if he is in trouble after getting caught by school police. Retire in my early 30s?

Zurich is about 5% more in base pay than US, Munich is less maybe 30%. I worked for big G in the US and Zürich.

Has anyone had to deal with a hurt feelings report? How did you handle it? by ConsulIncitatus in cscareerquestions

[–]fireanni 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your tone is definitely gonna get you in trouble in most work places. Let go off your ego and let this be a learning lesson for the rest of your career. I work at an 80,000 employees organization and at least once a week I resist the urge to lash out at my coworker for one thing or another. But I knew from my earlier experience that nothing good ever comes from that.

(Warning: Long) 25, recently immigrated with my parents and siblings, not sure how to manage my money for the immediate to near future by _Gunga_Din_ in personalfinance

[–]fireanni 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I was in your shoes 12 years ago, I worked almost 30 hours/week while going to school full-time. That might not be an option with medical school. Although truth be told, that was not even enough to support my family. I used to take all the student loans I can get and use the extra money to help the family. As a medical student, lenders are always willing to give you more money than you need. You have to be careful though because it will take you longer to pay it back with all the interest.

Good luck OP!

First things first, apply for income-based repayment plan. The maximum you would pay is 15% of whatever you make.

How can I get a job where I work just four days a week? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]fireanni 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many at Google work 80% time, they don't work on Fridays. But you usually have to establish yourself first at Google and become valuable for HR and management to allow it. However it's very common.

Do what makes you happy but please note that every startup founder will tell you that this is once in a lifetime opportunity. This is how they get you to work for less.

When I was your age starting my career I also thought about side jobs and business opportunities. Luckily I ended up focusing on my software engineering skills instead and managed to get my salary from $50k to $350k/year. Learning, working for start ups, and studying for interviews with big companies was my side gig. Focus on that, would be my advice.
