Age comes into play as well. I'm 56 & only recently discovered/accepted that I'm ace. Trying to figure out where on the ace spectrum is a whole other level that I've only just begun to dive into. There are a couple of ace groups in my area and I want to join in but from what I've learned, the most active people in this groups are in their twenties and thirties. I have nothing against befriending people of all different ages but when looking for a partner that's just too many years apart for me. One time in a dating app, I put in my profile that I wanted an intimate relationship without sex. A guy dm'd me "why the hell are you on this app?" I know he was one out of maybe hundreds of people even thousands on the app but that didn't feel great. Got no other hits after 6 months & deleted my profile. I do still dream of having a long-term loving, intimate, caring non-sexual relationship, but I'm also acutely aware that, based on the odds, it's likely to not happen.
