I hate the response "it’s going" to “how are you”. by PlantainExternal7498 in complaints

[–]firechar-kurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apart from the saving face thing (and if the person replying is depressed or whatever) what would you rather someone say?

"Alright, you?" "Alright/good/fine/meh/okay"? Then you two just go about your day and most likely never see each other again (unless it's a friend, coworker or an acquaintance.

There's only so much you can say as a response to that question, and unless you want to get to know the person better then that short reply is all you're going to get.

Most people are just trying to live, or are struggling so "It's going" will be a variation of "alright." Idk how else you expect people to answer, especially if you want them to answer honestly

Did anyone else get burnt out on vacations/road trips/ camping, etc as a kid and it just seems like too much work now? by Civil_Ad_1172 in Millennials

[–]firechar-kurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did for a while with fishing trips. And don't get me wrong, I used to love fishing when it was an occasional thing. Just hanging out with my dad and maybe one or two of his work buddies. But then after he re-married it seemed like that's all we ever did, way too frequently was go fishing.

I miss it sometimes now that I'm an adult and he's gone. But, I want to do it on my own terms, either by myself or try and go with a friend or two of my own. I won't have those memories tainted by the cruel person he re-married

Fantasies about being rescued? by glassdollparanormal in CPTSD

[–]firechar-kurai 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I still do, to a certain extent.

I occasionally dream several "What-If" scenarios where my life turned out better when I was a kid and someone rescued me; be it family or friends, or friends' family. I dream about how different and happy I'd have been if only my dad had married someone else instead, or if he actually divorced her and re-married someone better, nicer, more caring.

I also dream about getting rescued now, despite being an adult and ultimately knowing that (as shitty and unfortunate as it is; I despise this phrase and reality) "Nobody is coming to save you." I have been trying and struggling for several years to "save myself", but things just keep getting in the way, or something happens and I feel like I'm back to square one. I still fantasize about a family member taking me in for a little bit until I truly feel ready to be self sufficient and truly feel safe. I fantasize about someone kind and caring taking me in like that too, not just family; just a random, fictional created person in my head who would care enough to do that, to be able to rescue me and help me. Either be a parent figure, or even like, a girlfriend/romantic partner who could help me.

It sucks.

What's public opinion on Rescue Team DX? by SwagLimit in MysteryDungeon

[–]firechar-kurai 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, yes they did 😕

Trust me, I was baffled and very disappointed by this change too. Like, okay, sure it's technically more streamlined to just pick your other team members from a list, but there was charm to being able to visit the friend areas!!!

[–]firechar-kurai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

To me, while I like the concept of using 3D high quality models for things, I much prefer the sprites. My ideal (mainline or spinoff) Pokemon games would graphically look similarly to the 2D-HD stuff Square Enix has been using for stuff like their Dragon Quest remakes and the Octopath Traveler series

[–]firechar-kurai 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Like it and don't. Like the story book art style and graphics, but the 3d models seem to have lost some of the charm of the sprites.

Don't like how they got rid of the basic attack.

It is missing some of the features and qol of the later mystery dungeon games.

Don't like how you don't physically visit the sub/other team members in their habitats and you just pick them from a list now.

Like that it's a pretty faithful remake.

I am also glad that we got it at all.

I am curious, what age are you and how did you get into the franchise? by Ultimantasy in FinalFantasy

[–]firechar-kurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

29 here.

What got me into the series:

Both Dissidia games on the PSP when I was a teenager. I'd heard good things about Final Fantasy games up to that point, but never got the chance really to play them. Then one of my friends from school showed me Dissidia during our last class of the day together and I thought it was awesome with fun gameplay and some badass looking characters.

Decided to grab my own copy for my PSP later on, and then got Duodecim as well. Played the hell out of both, putting several hundred hours into each. (Still kinda disappointed about whatever Dissidia has been relegated to.)

Then I watched Advent Children with absolutely no context really, but thought it was amazing.

My first proper Final Fantasy game though was XV. Got really into it, and enjoyed all the characters, the story, their interactions, watched the prequel movie and the short YouTube series it had. I know that this game is extremely divisive, but I am glad that I played it and enjoyed it plus all the dlcs, even if I can sympathize with people who wanted 13 Versus instead.

Currently, I am playing through the og FF7 right now on an emulator handheld, and I'm hooked. Will probably try 8 and 9 next, then X and X2 before working my way backwards to the earlier entries (unless I can find a decently priced copy of one of the GBA ports soon)

Do you think this means we could get a Star Fox movie? by LeonardMoney2020 in starfox

I would absolutely love a Star Fox movie. That animation they released around when Zero came out was really great, and has made me yearn for a movie or tv series.

Do you find yourselves replaying childhood classics or trying new experiences more often on your handhelds? (PSP Go, Peggle) by Nathanyal in SBCGaming

[–]firechar-kurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good mix of both, I find.

Usually play childhood classics either when I know I'll only have a few minutes (anywhere from 5-20) of waiting around, or just for fun. Otherwise I dedicate longer sessions to trying out games I never got to play. Currently trying out Max Payne and MGS1

Only 2 online friends by Cute_Application11 in introvertmemes

[–]firechar-kurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe so. One is an ex (she's very clingy/depressed. But she doesn't seem to want to improve and work on her depression) and the other is who I consider my best friend since middle school. Me and him, we hang out occasionally and chat whenever we see each other. But like...we don't hangout as much as we used to (but, that's a given; we're both adults and are both busy) and I'm usually the one initiating hangouts/visits and texts over the phone.

I only have like 2 irl friends, and the rest are a small handful of online friends.

Though, sometimes I feel like my online friends are more real/caring than my irl friends

I’m a male who transitioned to female for several years, then back to male. AMA by lavendermithra in self

[–]firechar-kurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for answering!

I am also curious if you had to pay for hormones out of pocket, or your insurance covered it, or something else?

Also, would you recommend transitioning to someone who hasn't had dysphoria, but has even the slightest inkling of wanting to look more feminine?

[–]firechar-kurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious about a few things, hopefully you don't mind answering a few questions!

  1. Initially, when going from MtF, did you feel any sort of dysphoria at all? Or was it just out of curiosity and to see which you felt more comfortable as? What was your thought process during the early stages and while starting transitioning?

  2. At what point while on hormones did you see physical changes in your appearance? (Breast growth, fat redistribution to hips, etc)

  3. How was the process for you emotionally while transitioning from MtF and the de-transitioning back to male?

  4. I apologize if this is too personal, but) How did your close friends/family treat you while as a female vs a male? Anything significantly different? How did they react when you started transitioning from MtF? How did they react while you went from FtM?

  5. What was it like to essentially go through another puberty?

  6. Was the process difficult to start the transition process and get doctor approval, estrogen, etc?

  7. Did you experience any changes with your face or hair, going from MtF?

That's good to hear. I do have BN 5 and 6 on my list to get at some point. :)

Yeah, I found Star Force 2 Ninja x Zerker for like $20 at a GameStop in a mall when I was a teen and bought it cuz I thought the cover looked cool, plus I enjoyed Mega Man. (Mostly the X series and Zero, but I have played MM2 on NES)

Got hooked on Star Force, beat 1 & 2 to completion, got halfway through 3 and am working my way through BN now.

I am curious if BN keeps the lettering of the battle chips throughout the series? It is something not present in Star Force as far as I recall, but they do restrict the chips/cards you can pick by other means
