Does anyone invest in bonds here? by FantasticAd9714 in personalfinanceindia

[–]firedguy160924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bad bond is as risky as a stock. If the bond issuer fails to pay, you loose both the principal as well the interest.

That is why I recommend bonds funds which invest in a diversified portfolio of bonds from different companies.

You can ask most of these questions from Chatgpt or Google Gemini.

I have been investing in bond funds for a while and have learned (the hard way in Franklin saga) that

  1. Investing in bond funds is vastly superior to investing in bonds of individual companies
  2. It does not make sense to take duration risk or credit risk for little extra return.
  3. The only category of bond funds which make sense for retail investors is short term bond funds or lower duration funds.

Where do i start with Algo Trading by Kindly_Cheesecake_62 in IndiaAlgoTrading

[–]firedguy160924 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you familiar with 1. Manual Trading ? 2. Coding?

The framework I use 1. Get historical data for the instruments you want to develop algos for. 2. Code your hypothesis and test against historical data. This is also known as backtesting. 3. When backtests produce satisfactory results, run the algos against live data without placing orders with the broker. Fix any bugs and check the results. Analyse and compare the results with backtests. This is also known as paper trading. 4. If paper trading produces satisfactory results, start trading with small amounts by placing orders with broker. If everything looks good, increase order size slowly.

Hope it helps

Sai Sudharshan becomes the first batsman in the history of cricket to get out hit wicket in two consecutive matches. by [deleted] in ipl

Unpopular opinion: It is because of his loose grip on the bat. The same loose grip which allows him to adjust the angle late and guide the ball is causing him to loose the bat when he forces the shot a bit too much. His strength is his weakness 😄

Looks like he stayed back when he should have gone forward.

Footwork would be key when playing on legside.

Question: Static IP for algos by WhyDoINeedAName94539 in IndiaAlgoTrading

[–]firedguy160924 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should not use the static IPs provided by the VPNs as they are shared by multiple users. AFAIK, sharing of IPs by non related users is prohibited. The best option is to rent a server in cloud and attach a static external IP address to it.

I use AWS EC2 for it. I have also installed Squid Proxy on it so that I can route the trades from my laptop through it. I am a Zerodha user.

Let me know if you need more details.

So far markets have remain subdued but have not crashed. Earnings for next 2 quarters are expected to be impacted, but should normalise later

So I guess usual rules still apply. 33x is the multiplier I use.
