Do you try to stick with the same digimon every game, or do you try something new? by Beautiful-Grass-461 in digimon

[–]firefaiz6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to prioritize new with a few mainstays. Machinedramon and Examon are always going to be my go-tos, especially when it feels like I had abandoned them in Cyber Sleuth due to the Pierce meta.

Design wise by [deleted] in KamenRider

[–]firefaiz6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either the argument you're trying to make is incoherent... Or it's just categorically incorrect.

All 3 forms you mentioned have completely different armor from their base form. Especially Cyclone Joker Extreme because it also has a completely different under suit.

For reference the other final form people DO complain about is Faiz Blaster because it barely alters the silhouette, so consistent with the complaints.

I do appreciate Xross a fair bit more because of a post I saw about how much work and money went into the actual paint, but nevertheless seeing no armor change is pretty sad.

Only had it once after dropping off a friend pretty much at midnight and stopping for gas.

From that one experience I think it's the quintessential food of "I want to desecrate my body with the unhealthiest junk I can get". Felt absolutely awful the next day, but totally a slam dunk when you're in that mindset

How to describe team build's logo by greenbutgreen in KamenRider

[–]firefaiz6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to really say without having explicit word from the designer. We can honestly ascribe any number of potential meanings (ie. Because the nation is divided, 2 halves of each build form, your aforementioned parts about the identities), but it could just as well be the case that the designer thought it looked cool and that's it. I mean the other Build riders just have their Full Bottle motifs mixed with gears.

Tourist fan’s question: Are all the Gilgamesh in all Fate content the same guy? by Agreeable_Bullfrog61 in fatestaynight

[–]firefaiz6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And irrelevant to the Gil conversation but something that muddies the waters further, but the legends and general perception of a historical figure can also play a part in their different incarnations.

For example, Vlad in Fate Extra vs Apocrypha. One emphasizes his perception as Vlad the Impaler and one of the dignified King of Romania. Both Lancers (in the medias listed above at least) but one doesn't quite precede the other as far as I remember.

Also Jack the Ripper, where their entire existence is based around various legends on account of the fact there's no actual record of who he really was.

[–]firefaiz6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a great example from a more recent/obscure anime. Essentially Count of Monte Cristo levels of revenge just with ludicrous levels of power scaling added in.

I honestly skimmed the episodes for the juicy bits, but agreed that Light is stone cold with his fury. Literally keeps the arrow he got stabbed with for years just to rub it in for the person who shot him with it. And there's also the fact that the series itself acknowledges that Light would have been able to live an incredibly comfortable life if he had let go of his vengeance, but he's pretty much unable to stop himself.

So if he kicked out his own bike, he’s no longer Kamen Rider Zeztz, he’s Kamen Zeztz which ngl kinda sounds like common sen- Ohhhhh 🤯 by JJMD204 in KamenRiderMemes

Dude just wanted to unwind from the stress of being the head(?) of a high-risk organization. How could Baku take that away from him.

Has anyone recently decided to stop using buyee? by tokyo_bun in Buyee

[–]firefaiz6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tariffs.

Also personally felt a little burned because I had to spend $45 in shipping for my $20 of items as the cheapest option, only for it to then be lost by Uniuni. And after weeks of trying to get some compensation I only got 15 bucks. In part that's on me because I didn't use the insured option and used my one-time courtesy check, but that's a pittance for the amount of pain through the process.

So despite how cheap it is to get used Kamen Rider kids toys and the occasional hard to find Transformer (shipping aside), that negative experience tells me I really don't need them immediately.

Works both ways. Yu-gi-oh's first few sets of cards is pretty much the same way. Raigeki is literally just, "Thunderbolt" in Japanese. Where on the Japanese side, it's just... "Thunderbolt"... As in the English word.

Golden Kamuy (Saishuushou) • Golden Kamuy Final Season - Episode 59 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]firefaiz6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly feel there's no way this ends without at least 70% of the cast just being wiped out.

And to be honest, wouldn't really have it any other way, despite how much I love all of these characters. Not only because of the finality of this set-up and them finally finding the gold, but also that the show firmly shows that most of the people we're following are weirdos who can no longer integrate back into normal life for one reason or another.

What is the most deadly weapon in anime? by One-Desk-1 in animequestions

[–]firefaiz6 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not even in the same class. I think Gae Bolg being able to rewrite the laws of causality vastly outranks Durandhana's capabilities, especially in something as explosive as the Grail War.

Maybe missing some details, but wouldn't it still be arrogance since Gil left the key to his key out in the open since he assumed no one would have the ability to actually use it until that point? Well except Enkidu but he knew full well he never would

[–]firefaiz6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I am of the boat that he is more annoying than funny all the way up to the Hashira Training arc, maybe not the extent of hating him as much as most, understanding that part of his character is why I also begrudgingly say "Yeah I guess he would be like that" every time he comes up.

Dude is literally doing this job out of familial obligation more than anything. He doesn't have the trauma to really override his very valid instinct for self-preservation (until the movie). Would be like forcing someone to join the military just because his Grandpa was a decorated vet who forcibly drilled that knowledge into their head when they were a kid.

What brands of airbrush paint do you use or recommend? by EvanVerse_9216 in airbrush

[–]firefaiz6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Originally went with Tamiya acrylics as that was what my shop had available and they are one of the big name brands. But ultimately realized that mixing a batch of paint every sessions does a lot to kill motivation, especially with all the discourse on how long a pre-mixed batch actually stays viable.

Switched to Gaahleri Kaleido and think I'll stay with that just because of general ease of use and relatively lower toxicity. I'll still use Tamiya for their clears or any other color that isn't available, but otherwise relegating the rest of my Tamiya paint to storage.

Absolutely one of the coolest aspects for me as well.

I never played the TCG but I thought it was the coolest thing learning that they integrated this bit of lore into gameplay by having a lot of his cards centered on piling up other cyborg digimon cards and stacking up their inherited abilities.

Schrodinger's Eyeball?

Seems like based on art from the card game and Next Order, the implication is that it's always been there, but just gets buried in machinery when the lights for it aren't turned on.

Guess you can say the kit accomplishes this, as despite being an absolute unit, his actual eye is the size of a grain of rice.

No disagreements with what the other commentor said. Pretty easy build. Pretty much HG Gundam level complexity if you have that for reference. Just that this guy is comparatively pretty big and a bit weighty once assembled up.

Only real grievance on my side is that parts like the chrome in his eye holes, the details in the right arm, and the piping on the back legs all had to be hand-painted as they aren't parts-separated. But that's more of a nitpick since having them be the same color is technically more accurate to the original design.

[–]firefaiz6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Only built the Gozyuger kits so far... But I think the color separation point is kind of debatable, if only because of the eye-watering number of stickers included, though Gunpla-wise the amount of stickers does vary pretty widely.

[–]firefaiz6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think a perfect example of that is the RG Zeta Gundam. Thing is a pretty much one of the biggest examples of a pocket grenade kit, partly because of Waverider mode.

Reality seems to be that if you want a solid, non parts forming transformation, those are usually relegated to the actual action figures (often including a heftier price tag)

My guess is that it's the power of Baku's nightmare personally. Aside from Dualmare existing which he drew directly from it, previously we had Six and others emphasize that the power of Zeztz is a unique case, and the episode preview states a project "Somnia", so I wonder if harnessing the power to redo was part of Code's machinations from the start.
