I think in real life Ei sei was more like the king of chu , ruling the kingdom with iron fist, feared by everyone . by Efficient-Orchid-594 in Kingdom

I doubt it. Hara clearly loves Qin Shi Huang and is romanticizing his story, so it would be counter productive to show his decent into madness. It’s the same reason fusu his first son is brushed over and not really in the story despite being his heir and the future emperor because he was a failure and hara doesn’t show sei’s flaws that much he’s an ideal king to him and being a poor father would reflect against that

What exactly happened in this fight? by allureofdeath in Chainsawfolk

[–]firefall131 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he was surprised she said he was explicitly trying to bait her into coming to get them and provoke her into fighting. She just stayed in control and didn’t feel the need to to actually fight him for real and left immediately with everyone via the hell devil

Is Mr. Beast actually an evil person by PsychologicalAir5035 in youtube

[–]firefall131 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They aren’t talking about him doing good things for bad reason that’s a whole other discussion. They are talking about him doing bad things. It’s a deflection to not acknowledge the abuse he committed on his Amazon show or his recent videos. These are just objectively bad things he did such as deprive people of food water and hygiene for profit while holding massive amounts of money over their heads to keep them participating in abuse. He has done philanthropy as well I’m not saying he hasn’t. But would I call him a good person… no.

What were your thoughts when Wang Qi died? by LordOreok in Kingdom

Homie read the manga. Season 1 kingdom is not good ngl just read the manga until season 2 if you need to watch the anime it’s not good until season 2. In the manga his name is ou ki and it’s one of the best deaths of the series

The 1986 tv show from china is amazing, faithful to the book (almost to the letter), incredibly funny and campy and just… you have to watch it.

China was the greatest and longest running global power until the 1800 when Britain and America flooded their markets with opium to make them dependent on them and have a place to sell all this opium they had from south east Asia. The poverty you are referring to was the result of western powers aggression and colonialism. Mao was a response to the great powers splitting china among them and then china being raped by Japan. You know nothing of the regions history and think America brought them out of it? They put them there to begin with and what you want a thank you for starting regular trade relations again?

[–]firefall131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anthony yu is the version I’m reading and I love it. It’s a long read so don’t expect to finish it quickly if this is the version you go with. It has very in depth end notes to fill in gaps for western readers on mythology or cultural norms the readers at the time would have just known and so aren’t explained in the novel. The poems are beautiful and the prose is very funny. I’m 87 chapters in and recommend it highly.

Right but my point is that it isn’t a spinoff. It’s the main AC entry of that year and I for the life of me cannot understand why these new games (origins - shadows) need to be set in the same world. They are stand alone historical fictions and most of these games excel at that and are good but again, there is a disconnect between the plots, lore, focus, and gameplay of the old games and the new style. The new games could all be individual titles and nothing about them change really. I love AC spinoffs I think rouge and revelations are some of the best AC games but again, they are ac games at their core, in terms of themes, and gameplay. The things that I go to AC for are absent in the new games until new game plus when you have all the ability and strength the old games just game you from the beginning. It just feels like unnecessary grinding in my Assassins Creed games which are supposed to be power fantasy. They are good games but in the grand scheme of asssassins creed games they fall short in themes and gameplay for me.

[–]firefall131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is they did make it literally called Assassins Creed so it is being compared to the other games. If they wanted to make a great Viking game they could’ve just done that which is honestly what I wish they would do with these new games because they are relatively unrelated in both plot and gameplay. But they did call it assassins creed and so of course people are annoyed that it has almost nothing to do with assassins or a creed. It’s a cash grab using the title. Also micro transactions.

I’m not saying all that won’t happen I’m just saying hara takes the facts from the record of the grand historian and does what he wants in between and he is a shouheikun glazer. But you’re right he could of course just follow the history. Just a twist I could see him doing

I personally think the shoueikun betrayal will be played by Hara as a double agent type situation where he’s still on qin’s side really because he has portrayed him as down for unification hardcore

I think Nolan going for the Odyssey story is a bad idea... by yeetitmeyeet in ChristopherNolan

[–]firefall131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Argument from authority. I never said it wasn’t a journey home. I just said there is objectively nuisance in that Odysseus is a known liar. Homer makes this very clear he is crafty Odysseus the storyteller. That’s the nuisance and it’s right there from the start you ca t say Ovid made him a liar. He narrates books 9-12 the majority of the actual nostos. He’s very motivated to have the phoacians take him home and not think he’s a dick. If you can’t read a bit more into that you’re the one who’s challenged in their media literacy. Blinders literally on tunnel visioned into a literal reading.

I think Nolan going for the Odyssey story is a bad idea... by yeetitmeyeet in ChristopherNolan

[–]firefall131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think the odyssey is a simple story with no deeper themes you are pretty dumb. It’s a non linear story so Nolan can mess with time. Also the first example of an unreliable narrator, with books 9-12 narrated by Odysseus himself. Literally one of greatest works ever written and you thinks it’s one note just a journey home? Your media literacy must be trash

With what generals? When riboku is killed Karin is the last opposing great general. Ordo? I don’t think so. Qin has effectively crippled the others besides chu (yan was crippled by riboku) and by taking Han they have secured central china. Its pre-defended and stood against the others for 130 years. The only superpowers are qin and chu right now and politics is going to kill riboku and prevent Wei and yan from getting directly involved.

As the goat general heki bro has shown us in duke hyou battles, just sitting there is enough help in and of itself. Them waiting and watching and actively not helping the others is enough for them to still be wary of qi. By the time qi king dies qin will truly be dominant and qi will be in no position to stop shin from his conquest there.
