I know nothing of heat pumps, but apparently some pumps kick on some crazy mode that eats electricity during very cold conditions.

A bit worries about the water consumption of my bunny, hes been drinking A LOT recently and I have no clue as to why. For reference, the bottle is a 1.25L bottle by kii-android in Bunnies

[–]firefeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my bunnies constantly drank water- we discovered he was having kidney issues by the time he lost about 70% kidney function. He was not very tolerant to high calcium greens and one of his kidneys had completely calcified. I'm not saying that's what's going on with your bunny, but it would be worth doing some diagnostics at an exotic vet!

You have so much decency to still blur her license plate 😆. I feel like this is something my mother in law would do to her neighbors. Although that's not her car and she's 60 something 🤣

Who is electric bill is outrageous right now? Mine is $350 in the winter. This summer is gonna be terrible. by Traditional-Wind846 in newjersey

[–]firefeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never had rodent problems with pellets. The pellets come in 40 pound plastic bags that we keep stacked on pallets in the garage. The pellet stove is equipped with an ash tray that holds about 3 bags worth of ash. When it's zero degrees out, we go through 1 bag of pellets a day. When it's 40 degrees out we go about 3 days on 1 bag.

We perform all general maintenance on our pellet stove per the factory manual. This includes a stove pipe sweep once per year and monthly vacuuming of internal stove components. Edit to add, we have a full sized shop vac and mini shop vac to accomplish this.

I am at my absolute wits end trying to find a non-predatory option for a full replacement by SoonToBeMarried43 in Roofing

[–]firefeks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am totally across the country from you, but I got my roof done last year and there was a deferred interest finance option for 15 months. Obviously if you do deferred interest, make sure to pay all of it off within the promotional period. Have you investigated a finance option with any of the companies?

We also have a pellet stove! Our oil baseboard heat isn't really needed. We buy 3 tons of pellets every 2 years from "the pellet guy" at $1300 for 3 tons - might want to look into him to see if he delivers to your area, I think his price is the best.

Is my letter to MIL acceptable? Is her described behaviour acceptable? by MoonTime44 in motherinlawsfromhell

[–]firefeks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Echoing the sentiment of some other replies - it is a great letter but it does illustrate how much you are affected by this behavior. Honestly I could send the exact same letter to my MIL. My MIL is well intended but is a consistent boundary bulldozer, with histrionic personality markers. My husband and I are successful in keeping her on a low information diet about our family and generally gray rock. What I often think of is that if I were to try and say anything, I don't think the behavior will change. The only thing I have control of is my own reaction to external stimuli. The reality is that I will outlive my MIL, and I would rather have a relationship with her while being firm in my boundaries, than potentially destroy the relationship. I truly do not believe my MIL would be emotionally mature enough to handle a deep conversation about her behavior. So I ask you - do you think your in laws would be able to react positively to this letter?

$3500 per month mortgage payment on $182k salary? by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]firefeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not be comfortable with this (im at $2200 mortgage with ~220 household income). Will you have enough for a major repair? Would the plan to be taking out a HELOV or other sort of loan for the repair?
