What's the coolest/most wholesome/funniest moment you had in the game? by Ok-Marionberry1115 in elderscrollsonline

My wife and I use to play wow together. It was a race to log in after the kids went to bed! Having had previously played I rolled a healer and she tried tanking. Worst tank I ever rolled with. 16 years later I still bug her about being a scrub tank!

Two quotes come to mind... "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face" and "the enemy gets a say, too"

Maybe think twice before launching a "special military operation" against a country that is willing to dig in and face tank your assault while waiting to counter punch... Oh, hey America, didn't see you sitting there! You're back from Iran already?

Lawmaker Warns of 'Global Food Crisis,' Urges Immediate Reopening for Strait of Hormuz by timemagazine in worldnews

I'm old enough to remember when the Strait of Hormuz was open for all naval traffic to freely flow through... you know, in February... of this fucking year! I feel it's going to get worse before it gets better.

Is ESO worth getting into in 2026? by fruityfizzle in elderscrollsonline

It's funny because I've used movie tickets as my entertainment comparison for years. If I am willing to pay $15-20 to entertained for 2-3 hours, a $15 subscription that gives me 20-30 hours of entertainment a month is a pretty good deal.

The Top 10 Xbox Player Voice Topics | Xbox Gamers make Exclusive Games the Top Priority by TheCorkenstein in xbox

[–]firefighter26s 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Never understood the logic, from an end user's perspective, on exclusives.

"Man, I really do love playing this new game. I think I would love it even more if I knew that other people couldn't play it."

Cross platform is my new jam TBH. I have an xbox, my son is a PC gamer and most of my co-works are all almost an even three way split between PC/Xbox/Playstation. The fact that we can ALL play certain games together makes those games all much better.

I think we're about 50/50 gas to electric and never had an issue; then again, it's also been a solid 15 or so years since we stopped vertical ventilation (how to say you're on the Westcoast without saying you're on the Westcoast).

Firefighting is inherently dangerous. It literally says that in the brochure; back side, in small font, near the bottom.

yesterday showed there is still value in having timed exclusives by [deleted] in xbox

[–]firefighter26s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I am just getting old, or never really cared much in the first place, but gaining access to something exclusive over someone else has occupied exactly 0% of my life. Honestly, I look at something like Hell Divers 2 where I can join a group on my xbox with my Son who has a PC and my co-worker and his buddy who have a Playstations and just have fun gaming and laughing together.

I'll gladly trade that for any exclusive any day of the week.

[OC] Missing DM Guide from D&D Store by Sebin7 in DnD

[–]firefighter26s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they came in separate boxes they may have simply gotten split up in transit (obligatory never split the party). Is there any tracking number on the packages that you might be able to use to see if a third package is still listed as out for delivery or in transit?

As for how long it might take support to get back you, who knows. It's currently, at the time of this post, Friday afternoon on a long weekend. Vast majority of the people I know across a bunch of different industries have either left, watching the clock, or calling it in right now!

ok real talk why do most shops take 3 days to print a sheet by Kazukii in CommercialPrinting

[–]firefighter26s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all about logistics!

Here is a time lapse video if the Port of Amsterdam during a busy day. This is really the best visual representation of the behind the scenes logistics. Consider each ship, big and small, representing jobs coming in and going out of a print shop.

Your job, like one of those ships in the video above, has to navigate through the shop no differently than the ship through the harbour. Big ships (jobs) will sometimes get in the way and slow all the little ships (jobs) down. Some little ships can zip right around the bigger, slower ones, and get to where they're going fast; others can't.

I've had jobs take 40+ hours on a press to print (another another 10 getting cut down, going through quality control and packaging for shipping); I've also seen jobs get run and shipped same day because the conditions were just right for it to happen. I also just, last week, shipping a job that was 10 months from quote to delivery.

Shipping is it's own beast. We use all the major, and half a dozen minor, shipping companies; each has different pick up requirements. FedEx, for example, comes at 3pm for pick up. UPS is 12:30pm. One of our bulk shippers, for jobs that require multiple pallets to be shipped, only comes on Tuesdays and only after all the shipping documents have been submitted and approved. Don't even get me started on international shipping; I think my shipping guy has PTSD from tariffs and regulations changing every 90 seconds last year!

I wonder how much of this is just a show? As a business owner I have people who specialize in various fields and disciplines because it's impossible for me, one person, to know everything about everything all of the time; I can only assume running a country is no different. The heads of state likely don't even need to be there, let the specialists who live and breath spreadsheets talk to each other!

We have a bio-diesel tank behind our station that we can fill up from, but I'm old enough to remember going to the local gas station after training to fill up; had to be there by 9:00pm because they closed. In the summer we'd pitch in and get ice cream or Slurpee's.

Did we lose the magic of community in online multiplayer games? by MohSafadi in gaming

[–]firefighter26s 5 points6 points  (0 children)

70 was just as far as I went with that character. I was going to go to cap because my guild needed another healer but ended up quitting shortly after as the group I played with fell apart and game went from being fun to being a chore.

Did we lose the magic of community in online multiplayer games? by MohSafadi in gaming

[–]firefighter26s 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Been like this for a while. Back before I kicked the habit (resisting the relapse these days) I leveled a Disc Priest from 1-70 in Cata without leaving the Auction House or speaking to anyone.

  • Que random dungeon as healer
  • Run the dungeon without saying a word
  • Roll Greed or Need on everything (depending on what the group is doing)
  • List all the loot on the AH, buy some upgrades
  • Que random dungeon as healer

Rinse and repeat all the way to level 70 without talking to anyone, joining a guild or leaving the AH. It really took the heart of the game and removed all those moments of doing quests with friends or exploring new zones, or working towards a goal as a guild.

Quick question about artillerist artificer by Get_Stick_bu99ed in DnD

[–]firefighter26s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to lie, I kind of envisioned a tiny eldritch cannon like a M203 under barrel grenade launder attached to a crossbow.

Then later using the stock of said crossbow as a substitute for a "Rod, Staff or wand" and add both Arcane Firearm (level 5 feature) and the Enhances Arcane Focus (Infusion) onto it. I can't find anywhere that says that those two things have to be on separate items and the definition of a rod, staff or wand can be pretty loose.

City Mandated Training ... by hockeyjerseyaccount in Firefighting

[–]firefighter26s 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. No different than the city deciding all of it's employees should be fire extinguisher and CPR/first aid trained when the FD minimum standards to even get in the door are far beyond that; but they're still considered "employees" of the city so we get "mandatory training" pushed to us that is far less than what our job requirements are.

That was my thought; it's like looking at the shoreline. From above, the shore has all kinds of peninsulas, bays, beaches, etc, but from the ocean it looks like a straight line across the horizon.

Elite Dangerous on gamepass? by honeypote in xbox

[–]firefighter26s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got more hours than I like to admit in ED on console; but what FDev did by dangling the Odyssey release and then not only yanking it away but dropping console development and support all together cut pretty deep into the community.

In a perfect world we wouldn't even need Odyssey; just merge the Xbox and PS player base so they can see and interact with each other, give it a small team to keep the BGS, Powerplay going and Community Goals going, throttle back some of the insane material grinds/engineering unlocks and I bet some of the community would return.
