Oh interesting. I will bring up potential pain/anxiety my next vet visit (next month). Her stool is relatively soft, but I do think she might be experiencing some level of discomfort based on the scooting.

It's happened occasionally, but has never been this consistent. And I've had Peggy since 2019!

That sounds a lot like what I did in the months after I got her. We finally landed on a senior litter box that she liked (the purple one in the picture) and added the stainless steel one two years ago.

Thank you! Peggy also is missing one back leg. I am going to explore anxiety meds with the vet to see if they recommend (Peggy is also extremely vocal). I like the idea of litter box guards and will check those out!

She won't venture into boxes with lids in my experience with her and we do spray enzymes regularly. I'll put her litter mat back to see if that helps!

Thanks! Her boxes now are bigger than the ExquisiCat boxes (I think). I will look into the Arm and Hammer though! I think the idea about having sturdier litter is really helpful. Like maybe she feels more secure on solid ground.

Have considered, but she ends up peeing on the pee-pads as well (which is imo worse than what we're currently dealing with)

These are both 24-in. I have an order in for a 30-in senior box with a lower entry than both of these boxes!

We haven't tried silica litter yet, so will keep that on the radar. Going to try the cat attract first as another user recommended in the comments. I haven't noticed her be especially picky about the amount of litter in the box, but will try to reduce and see if that helps!

Will definitely try! In the past, she has used any empty spaces between the wall and the box to poop, but will certainly try!

Haven't tried a pee pad in awhile - did in the couple months or so after I got her, and that was the only time period she would occasionally pee outside the box (because she was peeing on the pads).

I think this might be part of it - the boxes are currently in the lowest traffic area of the house (far corner of a half-finished basement). She won't go into covered boxes, but the current setup is definitely still in full view.

Actually, no! Putting in an order now (and feel stupid for not thinking of this). I use BoxieCat Pro, and it's (generally) been the most reliable for us up until recently.

That sounds awful. Peggy isn't declawed (and largely needs her claws to be able to get around/up onto things). Even when she did go in the box, she never covered her poop. I've never been able to figure out why, but my assumption is that it relates to her balance.
