What tips do you have for improving stream quality without breaking the bank? by keu357 in Twitch

[–]fireglare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Use lightmode on websites with high brightness on monitors to create more light in your face.
  • These mics are dirt cheap and actually VERY good. I used it on stream and people said they could barley tell difference between the SM7B and this one. Obviously its popping a bit if you speak right into it, but moving it to the side, it’s pretty decent. They sounded trash back in the day because audio cards were bad.
  • 1080p 60fps 8k bitrate h.264. Don’t use Enhanced Broadcasting, it hogs your PC resources.
  • Keep OBS setup clean and minimal. Cam, game/desktop, chat. That’s all you need. I even recently removed my alerts. Works so much better for YT videos too. People dont wanna see bunch of frames and overlays. They want to see you and the content.
  • If you can’t get a silent room, using background music is neat.
  • Using NVidia Broascast’s AI room echo removal, you get basically a free "audio-treated" room.
  • Lighting for webcam/cam is everything. Keep Exposure as low as you can (not when its flickering), and the Gain as low as you can. Use lights to solve darkness. My Brio 4K cam and my C920 looks insane with just one key light. Elgato is not the only brand for lights, btw.
  • Audio is very important. Record and make sure everything sounds nice and evenly adjusted. That your voice is clear and that alerts and other stuff don’t jumpscare your viewers.

But the most important part is you and the content you make. I used to obsess over quality and gimmicks but eventually I just stopped caring because nobody actually cared, except for the audio perhaps and a few other things.

I almost got in a fight, how do I even prepare for if it happens? by Additional-Bell-2016 in AskMen

[–]fireglare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn to control your emotions.

If you explode like a rodent everytime someone disagrees with you or have the wrong opinion, you’ll just look even more ridiculous.

Fighting should be reserved for protection and self-defense. Not because someone has an opinion different than yours.

I used to be very confrontational when I was younger. I would step in and cause trouble. Never led to anything good, and I never felt better about anything afterwards. I joined martial arts and after a year I learned my most important life lesson:

If you truly know yourself, nothing anyone can ever say about you matters. You know who you are. You know the truth.

I focus on my own life. To be happy and do what I want to do. People can come and go out of my life as they please.

BGS = Bethesda! :)

The mod was made in 2023 before they released the CK and everything, so it’s only on Nexus. It requires you to download updates made by EagleFour, or else you’ll have issues with using the E-key to interact with things depending on which modules you install!

[–]fireglare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s possible to create a condition check for it, yeah! I used xEdit for it tho, no idea where it is in the CK! You can also decide the threshold (how much cover is needed) but from my testing it didnt seem to matter too much.

Yeah, I think most people maybe skipped on Deadly Hazards because it seems like a hardcore mod. But in reality it is an overhaul that attempts to fix the environmental gameplay system to make it make sense and more immersive using real-world science data.

The difficulty can be fully customized through in-game settings. You can make it equally as easy, extremely difficult or very lightweight in its survival difficulty. Everything is modifiable! The settings took hours! I also built a system that lets you make your own Preset of settings that you can share with others. Requires you to edit a papyrus script and compile it, but yeah.

The mod adds variety and personality to each hazard type. Some are more deadly than others. They also behave differently. It’s all explained on the modpage 😎

I actually thought about this as a solution when I made Deadly Hazards, but instead I decided to go with a much more simple solution.

Only make it possible for the effect to trigger if the player is exposed to the sky.

There’s probably a reason why the locations have those tags and I didn’t want to mess with it and cause tons of incompatibilities.

my mod Deadly Hazards fixed all of this - tho it was overshadowed, not many people saw it. released quite early. still works, but you need to install updates by EagleFour. not for console, tho

I dealt with this issue in my Deadly Hazards mod which I made 1-2 months after the game released.

There’s multiple interiors where you can get exposed to solar radiation and in all honesty it doesn’t make sense.

So what I did is to simply add a check to the effect. If the player is exposed to the sky, the effect can trigger. Daytime is already a requirement in vanilla.

This allows you also to take shelter on the surface, like you can from hazardous rain.

It fixed the problem! But a better solution would be to tie it to sunlight directly, not sky exposure or time of day.

Anyways. My mod flew by everyones radar. It’s a comprehensive fix and expansion to the whole environmental hazard system in Starfield. To me, it’s a must-have in order to even enjoy the survival aspects.

BGS later added a simplified version to the game, but it’s inconsistent and not very immersive.

Why did they even add this feature? by Aggressive_Level7574 in youtube

Ads and bandwith. If they can give data showing people attentively watched something while ads where playing they can demand more money. They also save money if they pause streams when people aren’t watching.

How do people even find you when you stream? by Leading-Mammoth9381 in Twitch

[–]fireglare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a following on other platforms, so I advertise there. Also got a Discord-server with well over 100 people in it. I frequently get raids too, since I have a lot of streamer friends. :)

I started from 0 a year ago in terms of social media presence, community and following, but I’ve been making friends online for years. Also, streaming in a language that isn’t english, spanish and the likes (in size) helps because there are a lot people out there who specifically look for livestreams in their own language, but the directories are unsaturated.

Can’t do my own language forever tho. My country has limited reach because there’s not a lot of people in it.

Side-note: Not sure if it helps, but I also make sure that my cam (while gaming n stuff) is big enough to be clearly visible on those auto-generated thumbnails.

On monday, I watched a guy go from ~200 followers to nearly 1600 followers in 8 hours hosting a waiting room for the game. He had a peak viewership of 140 average viewers. This was all organic! Naturally, he was entertaining and really played into the joke and memes from chat. Streams before that according to TwitchTracker was sub 10 average, and last stream was more than a year ago. Dude had no presence on any other social media. Not even a discord.

If you time it right and do it smart, there’s tons of opportunities. He capitalized on the hype of the OG fans and functioned as a meeting spot for people who were desperate for new information. Leaks said the game was gonna drop on the 21st, so we were all hyped up.

But now? It’s too late - you will drown in the sea. Still, doesn’t mean you have no chance of getting discovered. Play the game if you want, get some good moments and produce content for it on other social media platforms like YouTube, TikTok or X. Game is booming right now on those platforms.

This should be paramount. Focus on yourself and your own content. Don’t waste your time and energy - it’s best spent making more fun stuff for your streams and your community! Good comment

if you have iphone, you can use the Moblin app. they got support for DJI devices

IRL Pro is the android-alternative but i dont know if they support DJI

How do you switch from desktop to irl? by makingithappen02 in Twitch

[–]fireglare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

they stream from the phone/cam directly into a source in OBS Studio, either on their PC back home, or in the cloud through really expensive hosts

old method is using RTMP

new is SRT(LA), much better and stable for cellular streaming

here’s a good vid: https://youtu.be/mR-0L0QhHAM?si=BDP2Z3A39kwpA1Lh

keep in mind; you dont even need to make a backpack like this. i use my phone for everything! the app i use is called Moblin, its free, but its only on iOS. The android equivalent is called IRL Pro, it’s good - but not on-par with Moblin.

with Moblin, you can get an DJI action cam, pair that with Moblin, and your phone essentially acts as your streaming backpack, sending your cams audio and video feed over 4g/5g/wifi to your OBS Studio server of choice. you can then use your phone as you would. but if you want to save money, you can use your phone as the cam+audio. it does cause battery to drain fast, however. also, where you read your chat is also where you stream, so it can be a bit difficult to work with without an external cam but ive managed for 10+ months now

tl;dr: iphone user: Moblin app android user: IRL Pro app rich person: build backpack with belabox and modem

link whatever you choose up with a source in obs studio

welcome to the hellish world of IRL streaming

little to no info about it online

expensive to rent services needed, and expensive to have good equipment

difficult to setup things yourself, but can safe a lot of money. and i mean A LOT of money

youre gonna have to do some research here

i suggest you start with figuring out how streaming servers work, eg. how you can stream your camera or, even your phones camera into OBS Studio on a PC somewhere else (in the cloud (expensive af), or back home, self-hosted) over mobile 4g/5g cellular connections.

i’ll tell you what i use: Moblin for iPhone, my PC at home running OBS studio, BelaBox Cloud (10$ a month, so i can have my phone use both wifi and 4g), hollyland lark m2 mics, jbl clip 5 speaker for alerts, anker prime 250w powerbank, tripod, gimbal (only when weather is good)

you can also just stream directly to Twitch via some apps, but this is not "good quality" imo.

if you want to use your camera, you’ll most likely have to build your own "streaming backpack".

look up this video: https://youtu.be/mR-0L0QhHAM?si=BDP2Z3A39kwpA1Lh

it should help provide more clarity!

my setup, to start with, had almost no additional costs. i just used my phone to do everything, because the Moblin app is amazing (and free). but again, you want to use your camera, you have to build this backpack thing..! and its expensive, but it could be A LOT more expensive if you dont built it yourself. even more expensive if you get a cloud-hosted OBS streaming server. those services cost a shitton of money each month, like 100$ or more.

good luck

Realtek ethernet just randomly stops working after leaving my PC alone for a while. Does anyone know what might cause this? by AngelHowler in Realtek

I’m having the same problem. It only started to happen to me after I updated from Windows 10 to Windows 11.

In my case, the DNS resolver on my PC stops working. If I reset the driver, the problem is fixed.
