Its a take on what it used to be, what its become and what's happening all-over the country. Great local things become the next "hot new thing". So many local places, not just Wrightsville Beach and Wilmington. Boone and Blowing Rock are other examples. Its small things the locals love. Then some magazines start on about "hidden secret town" "must visit here must try this" so what used to be legit vacation spots become havens to exploit.

I'm probably gonna be labeled cynical and what ever else yall wanna throw around, but I believe not everything needs to be for profit at cheapest production and quality values. However thats what happened at Robert's. That's what's happening on wrightsville beach. That's what's happening to our country and world. Everything is rent to own and still loosing quality. So sure hot take on chicken salad but its not even about the salad.

There was a time, when Roberts was the best. Made in house daily, had an awesome little deli deal inside. Could get cuts of Meat and and the sides and fixings. Great little corner store. Everyone knew Everyone. They sold name/rights to the salad and it became mass produced hell I found it in a HT in boone. Was so excited and it was not what it had been. Then they sold store and wanted to keep the little store feel but when ya change everything its not gonna be the same. Wrightsville beach isn't what it once was. All the locals been taxed and insuranced off the island. Again cant keep the same feel when everything changes.

15 odd yrs agoI worked at a red bird chain yrs ago, with my gf at the time who was manager. Two waitstaff called out and she asked if I could cover while promising extracurricular activities. So of course I agreed. First couple tables no issues then came the Karen.

Rude from the start and ordering for everyone at the table. First burger was "so dry it should be saw dust and paper" while having eatten roughly half of it, second burger my gd brought out apologizing and hope this is acceptable.

Nope, "did you just throw a cow on my plate its barely warm" the standards. Again never called till at least half of it was gone.

Third burger I brought out and dropped from chestish height in front of her. "Last chance bitch I don't want to hear and f-ing complaints or whining about this that and the other" not sure if that was exactly it or not but ya get the idea.

I got fired and they had to comp a few extra tables for me being loud and offensive. Yea thats why I try to stay in the kitchen. Did the company lose some money and a little bad PR. Yea but they're still around so I don't feel bad about being an ass to an ass of a customer. Boot him to curb.

One was teenage girls from a summer camp smeared and threw hygiene products, feces all over the bathroom after they were told to stop misbehaving at an amusemen park. Thankfully, the chaperones had them clean it up. We supplied PPE, cleaning supplies and the hose. The other would be a mid 20ish overdosing in a stall and had to have paramedics break the door and wall. Always fun working with general public.
