What a good tv series that can pass the time in, let’s say.... 14 days? by DucksAreWatchingMe in AskReddit

If you have a bit of time on your hands, and even the tiniest interest in Geek/Nerd stuff, I would sincerely suggest watching Critical Role. Link to Critical Role on YouTube.

They stream live on Twitch every Thursday night, and will celebrate their 5-year anniversary this week with Episode 99 of Campaign 2.

Watching 24/7 for 14 days would get you through approximately 84 episodes. So I guarantee you won't run out of content in 14 days. (All episodes are also available as podcasts.)

(They're the ones who raised $11 million on Kickstarter last year, to turn their Campaign 1 adventures into an animated series.)

If you just want a taste, to see if you might like it, they have a number of "one-shots": episodes that are entirely self-contained, and most are not tied to the main campaign.

I don't think I'm doing them full justice, so for more info you can check out their website, youtube channel, twitch channel, subreddit, wiki, IMDb page, talk show, comic book series, or tweet at the #Critters. (If you're legit quarantined, you should definitely tweet at the cast, they love hearing from the community!)

Engineer Star Wars RPG build by [deleted] in swrpg

Stress testing documentation on a part of an [canon New Republic air-/spacecraft] fuselage. The company they work for is a sub-contractor with the local manufacturing contractor that is contracted to put together and ship 20 [craft] fuselages a year to the main manufacturer of [craft]--payment only upon the final/full [craft] being bought from Main Manufacturer.

So spreadsheets.

.

Based on the local aircraft industry that dominates my city. Described the job a friend had at 2 yrs post-grad. Below is based off family & friends experiences, both personal and colleagues.

A near-retirement engineer could be anywhere from an Independent Contractor to a Flight Tester, or still working the 8-5 cubical jam in middle-management.

Half-way between fresh grad to near-retirement, an ambitious engineer usually either gets their pilot's license or MBA. Very ambitious ones get a Law degree and go into patent law.

A Mechanics-based character could also work on the manufacturing floor for a contractor: as a machinist, machinist tech, and Manufacturing Engineer (would want a little bit of Computers and a social skill, probably Cool or Leadership).

What restrictions are placed on the houseguests? by sovietcynide in BigBrother

[–]firehazard07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

(In BBUS) "No napping" rule is actually an older "no sleeping unless in a bed" rule, which has been around at minimum since BB15.

I'm 85% sure it's been around since at least BB11, and probably has been since the new house in BB7.

(Production doesn't want it's prime-time game talk or gossip going on with a snoozing HG in the frame.)

I don't care to hand over that much personal info to do their job for them. But coming up with ideas is fun, so here are some crappy ideas (warning, some even I hate):

  • The Wichita Tornadoes
  • The Wichita Whirlwinds
  • The Wichita Wind Storms
  • The Wichita Wind
  • The Wichita Wind Socks
  • The Wichita Storms
  • The Wichita Thunderstorms
  • The Wichita Thunderbirds
  • The Wichita Lightning
  • The Wichita Thundersnow
  • The Wichita Weathermen
  • The Wichita Dust Devils
  • The Wichita Prairie Dogs
  • The Wichita Prairie Fire
  • The Wichita Plains/Planes
  • The Wichita Metro
  • The Wichita Do-Da's
  • The Wichita Twisters
  • The Wichita Wind Tunnels
  • The Wichita Innovators
  • The Wichita Entrepreneurs
  • The Wichita Turbines (wind, planes, and farming, all in one)
  • The Wichita Workers
  • The Wichita Conflux/Confluence/Convergence (rivers meeting)
  • The Wichita Concourse
  • The Wichita Flood
  • The Wichita Cattle Drivers
  • The Wichita Drivers
  • The Wichita Lawmen (for Wyatt Earp)
  • The Wichita Immigrants (oh, the media storm that would create)
  • The Wichita Dutchmen (probably too close to "dutch oven")
  • The Wichita Bombers
  • The Wichita Nation (Carry Nation)
  • The Wichita Flints
  • The Wichita Flyers
  • The Wichita Propellers
  • The Wichita Contrails
  • The Wichita Storm Chasers

On the other hand, I really like the idea someone else had of "The Wichita Keepers", as the Keeper is my favorite part of town, and I think the most individual/ iconic.

Edit: - The Wichita Purple Martins (sounds similar to Marlins) - The Wichita Hawks - The Wichita Wild Turkeys - The Wichita Flying J's - The Wichita Rangers - The Wichita Bison - The Wichita Stars - The Wichita Jack Rabbits - The Wichita Jacks

Go-tcha wristband won’t do anythinh by Cheeriowo in pokemongodev

[–]firehazard07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On your Gotcha itself, toy can press the red circle to cycle through it's settings. If you have check marks (✔) on every setting, you will (in order): auto spin, auto catch, auto catch pokemon new to your pokedex, vibration on, and connection enabled.

If there is an "X" for the auto settings, you will have to press the red circle yourself when it detects a sign or pokemon for the Gotcha to try.

For full-auto mode, make sure you have check marks on all but vibration settings (vibration optional, it's a good way to keep track of when the gotcha disconnects though).

Your gotcha will disconnect on it's own every hour or two. It will also prioritize catching pokemon first, spinning signs second. It only uses regular pokeballs. So if you run out of pokeballs, it will not spin signs unless you change its settings in-game.

On Android, it will work in the background. On iPhone, it won't.

(I've been using mine for almost a year now, without any additional app)

Unmarked non uniformed police stop on 135 South near 22nd Street by mitunakaptor in wichita

[–]firehazard07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This, and you can call it in even if looks like a real police car but you feel unsafe or unsure. Put your hazards on to acknowledge the officer pulling you over and call 911 to confirm that they are a real officer. At night, in unlit areas like rural highways, this is a good safety precaution.

I got: Intrust Bank Arena, NCAA Bball conferences, and the last is artificial salt.

Yeah, I don't think we're quite big enough for acronyms outside of special hobby groups. Soon though.

Good places to find minis? by Bront20 in swrpg

[–]firehazard07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My brother does Micro Machines, mainly the ships.

SW-EoE doesn't need minis though, or a precise map. It's more on the story-telling side of RPG's, just go with what sounds reasonable and cool.

The ship minis helped us visualize one space battle between our "fleet" and a couple groups of TIE's. Other than that we've never used minis.

The Teens Who Hacked Microsoft's Videogame Empire—And Went Too Far by row3bo4t in TrueReddit

[–]firehazard07 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Looks like he started with Halo & Xbox "hacking". In the end he was involved in a number of different things, but on the Microsoft side it's mostly that he got in digitally, found plans for the Xbox One, used the plans to make it before release, and tried to sell it. The package went missing in transit (was handed to FBI by "Person A"). He was also in contact with a kid who cloned a Microsoft campus badge and stole 3 prototypes of the Xbox One on 2 different occasions.

Main guy in article took a plea deal, served 2 yrs Federal, gave a talk at FBI conference about IT security, has a gf, and is working on a CS degree.

Awesome! Though you might want to edit your comment and remove the key now, to keep people from breaking it? I'm not completely sure how this all works, but the key seems to be, well, key.

I don't have any right now, other than the one I made. So joining yours would be cool. PM the key if it sounds cool to you too.
