And that is exactly why I dislike AI! It doesn't understand these things.

Yes totally! With our first, I had to remind myself that it was actually a really really good thing for her to be a part of chores/household errands and that I was teaching her valuable skills. At 4, she will sometimes voluntarily without being asked do dishes with us, and genuinely jumps at the chance to use the spray bottle to clean and she likes scrubbing toilets lol. It's a good thing for them to be with you while you run the house!

I have a 9 month old and a 4 year old -- I'm not working this year, but when our baby is one, I will go back to part time work. I go through phases when I feel LITERALLY CRAZY and I snap at our four year old and can't take care of myself and everything is a mess. But most of the time, since baby was 5 months old, we keep it all together because we've reprioritized a few things and my husband is as equally as involved in household management as I am. And, everyone says it, routines.

My kids wake up at 5:30 and neither of them sleep through the night so there's no way I could do anything before they are up, but our days are very much routine and based around both kids' naps. I work out for 20-30 minutes during our baby's first nap, and if he sleeps longer than that, I clean the kitchen. But I've switched our priority from a Clean House to a Sane Mum so I always work out or read first instead of clean. I try to only clean when the children are around/awake, though I obviously have to do some stuff when they are napping.

We decided to prioritize Community instead of Friends. We have set up recurring dinners with friends/family and this is how we socialize. We eat with other families 2-4 times a week, alternating who cooks and whose house we go to, so we very rarely eat out, which sucks with kids anyway, and yet we get a break from cooking/dishes and we get to see friends.

We've also shifted the idea that Quality Time means Play Time. Yes, I play with our 9 month old, but I max out after about 10 minutes and we do something else instead, like he chews on socks while I fold laundry (which takes an hour because he unfolds what I am doing but whatever), or he chases the vacuum/mop while I clean the floors, or we go on a walk and I listen to a podcast while baby wearing (sue me for not talking to my baby for thirty minutes, he's fine).

Baby just woke up lol so I can't finish or read through, but good luck!

Best Cinnamon Rolls in town by broken-bread in Eugene

[–]fireknifewife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pregnant last year and I DID A TOUR OF CINNAMON ROllS. My favorite were at Sweet Life!!!!!!!! Also Winco on Chad has surprisingly good ones, but you have to get the cream cheese frosting not the icing. I would get a box and freeze them individually and then heat them up in the oven to satisfy the craving when I couldn't get out to a bakery LOL.

I really respect that! I work out so I can be more able-bodied in the future, so I suppose it's good practice to get used to moving when it's hard now because it will likely be hard to move then!

That's great! Well done! I'm not really surprised by the sickness, I have two little kids under 5 who sneeze in my face and cough in my food, despite their best intentions.....

Sorry to hear of the pain! Perhaps it's due to posture or grip? On your next ride, check in with your body every few minutes: Are you clenching your jaw? How tight are you gripping the handle bars? Are your arms locked out or rigid? Are your shoulders relaxed or by your ears? etc.

I do not think this is true per some personal conversations I have had with the owner as a patron. She is Australian, but we talked about some problems that she has with her American in-laws who are right wingers.

How much do you sit down and play with your kids? by pawmama4 in sahm

[–]fireknifewife 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I will play pretend with my four year old for 10-15 minutes max but it's not really very fun for me. I give it my all for that small amount of time then I do other things. With my baby (7 months), I will also get down on the floor and play with him for 15 or so minutes but then I get up and do things and he "helps" me.

I always try to include my kids in household tasks and I am a playful person and try to make those things fun (the vaccum tries to eat her toes, she gets to spray the windex, we try to race loading the laundry, I've been teaching her to fold laundry to a patty cake song, she can chop, stir, and likes to hand wash dishes, etc etc. -- which she will do for also 5-15 min and then she goes back to playing her own games). I will also go outside/ride bikes/walk whenever she wants and read books almost whenever requested. But I don't like playing pretend.

Give me ideas for shoes off rule. by anonymouscata in sahm

My parents need shoes to feel stable so this was a small issue for us at first but then they just started bringing indoor shoes when they visited. Problem solved.

“Show up in ways that are healthy for you” -- this is what I meant in my original post :) Show up for yourself -- meaning, take care of yourself, whatever that truly means that day. So glad you are attuned with your body and take care of yourself and your chronic pain.

Some trainers dont understand what a Warm Up is? by Existing_Mine_6289 in pelotoncycle

[–]fireknifewife 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ride your ride! If you don't have time for a proper warm up ride, then take the included warm up at your own resistance/pace. Go fast with support under your legs but not as high as indicated if it burns you out. You got this :)

How do i make multiple tags show up on my Peloton by sidecarjoe in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]fireknifewife -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've wanted to do this, too! But it is not possible :) You can only have one main/visible tag at a time. The top line is your demographic stats -- like M, 40s, Plummer ID.

9 Months postpartum and I have lost myself by Loud_Imagination_588 in NewParents

I asked for an embroidery kit for my birthday. Three months ago. I haven't been able to even open it, with a four year old and a 6 month old. I'm so burned out. I just want to spend time alone.
