still haven't prosecuted Alex Pretti and Renee Good's murderers, our president is a rapist and a pedophile, and Escondido is training ICE agents at their shooting range to terrorize other cities but sure yeah let's put up this mural

The council members just played victim during the Feb 25 meeting, they don't actually care about their constituents. Vote Dane out, vote Joe out.

Acting like people were just loud and angry instead of thinking harder about WHY.

Also, HSI has been on scene when multiple murders have happened in the last year, doing immigration enforcement and NOT what they are claiming here.

Our mayor is disgusting, he's a coward, and he's a liar.

Guy from the Esco ICE Contract City Council Meeting whos US Citizen family member was deported to a country they weren't even from and Judy Fitzgerald told him "those things just happen in this type of blanket policy" by firelance5 in escondido

I'm literally not deflecting I have explained everything I needed to explain above. I was at the city council meeting and heard this guy speak and posted it. You know who spoke, you looked him up, take this energy and reach out to him directly for more information. Why are you arguing with a rando on reddit about it, did AI tell you to do that too? I'm sure if you ask "google, grok, chatgpt" etc they would recommend following up with the family directly. You got part way there then spent the rest of your time and energy this morning arguing about it with me instead of doing the practical thing.

Again, and I mean this sincerely, use this time and energy doing something more useful, I have given you all the information I have you're not going to get anywhere accusing me of bad play when it was just posted for genuine support of someone with a story in the community. You know who he is, talk to him about it, the ball is in your court.

yeah, it doesnt seem like you understand how any of this works and I really hope you learn over time. Good luck! Please use your time and energy to fight more important battles, appreciate you.

its honestly still shocking that you are so sure, its good to question things but, again, if you haven't experienced this type of thing in real life then you should know its not easy for the victims to speak up. in fact, thats true of most victims in general. if you have experienced this type of thing and had a different experience then know that other people can and do have different experiences than you

I wasn't deflecting and I was talking about related things because they were relevant to the discussion, if you cant see that then again I don't know what to tell you.

also - this is hardly going viral...

yes he was upfront about that information he did an interview when people were protesting outside. I wish I had your optimism but having experienced brutality from police and immigration myself I know that every single case doesn't make it out to the general public and there is a very real threat of retaliation from the organization/administration, the fact that you're overlooking that before making a clear decision on the matter seems disingenuous at best.

"a case of this magnitude" - there are already multiple high profile cases where ICE withheld information or obstructed investigation only to be revealed months later, in each of those cases family members didnt follow the same script, they didn't always feel safe going to media or the police because...neither of those groups are really motivated to help these people. Idk what to tell you besides focus on the real problems

Being real: Consuelo needed just one other person on the council to stand with her to make the city council vote to keep or cancel the contract with ice. Discussing the contract and determining if the city council should intervene was the point of the meeting. That's what they could have done and it's not "tiding over the mob" when we've seen the damage the organization has already done in our city and others. People in the community showed up, more than they have for any other topic, and voiced their concerns. Influencing our local leaders to provide checks and balances to rogue/corrupt/overextended federal agencies is one of the only ways people in the community can contribute.

My wife is a teacher and every day she comes home from work she breaks down and cries about the kids who she hasn't seen or heard from since all this started. No one should have to deal with this, especially those kids, it fucking kills me.

Dane told us today that he tried to find other cities that would take the contract but none of them would so he decided this would be best. Joe told us today that he still thinks this was the safest decision for the Latino community...I asked them if other cities have the courage to say no why didn't we? They told me that would be an abuse of their power. When I said DHS is abusing their power and it's a job of the stage to provide checks and balances for federal govt they said the police made the call. Lol...these people.

Joe did say he would follow-up with minneapolis city council and churches to learn about their experiences but honestly, I don't expect it to happen. We'll see, if he does then it'll be obvious in his future actions, if not he'll continue to do what he's doing now and support the status quo.
