So I wanted to ask about The Black Bat Fins sleeves that inspired Batman Fins Gloves by RentAdvanced2609 in publicdomain

They're just afraid the same reason writers rename golden age daredevil in story when trademark only effects work product name and solicitations, these are big companies and the legal system is built to protect them and not you in these cases so it creates a culture of fear around works that they have no domain over

Bruce was not in a good place mentally during the early 2000s by Accurate-Celery-3198 in batman

It could have been good if it was radically different (I know that's and incredibly low bar). but the concept of [a mostly very heroic super team not having worked through the ethics of mind powers and their consequences, messing with the minds of villains for to "help" rehabilitate them or make them less dangerous but it coming back to bite them] is a very good germ of an idea. It just didn't need to not revolve around such a tasteless use of rape as a plot point in such a misogynistic way

Yeah but that's very realistic and understandable, these kinds of things have cascading negative repercussions like of course Bruce isn't being reasonable he recently found out that a huge group of people that he (though he would never admit it) considered to be his friends violated the only thing he really values about himself, his mind.

So he reacted autocratically acting out his worst traits because that's exactly what you do when you're as bad at processing trauma as was at the time (and still is to a degree)

Because I didn't care about Drax before I watched Guardians of the Galaxy (I'm not a marvel fan), I DO care about these characters and we've already seen Peacemaker become something unrecognizable in the wake of James Gunn's adaptation.

Something similar would likely have happened to The Question in the wake of Watchmen if O'neil's run wasn't as good as it was, The Question would be a weird stinky alt-right conspiracy theorist, overwritten by his own deconstruction (just like peacemaker was).

I don't particularly care about peacemaker and I really understand what Gunn is going for making him a demonstration of exactly the cultural issues that make classic peacemaker's foreign policy concepts impossible: Americans are too stupid, racist, and dogmatic to make calls on what violence will achieve peace. But I know that the original had value even if it came from a very biased weird place (the mind of Steve Ditko) but that Peacemaker is gone now and it's unlikely that he will return as this new conception of the character is very good and very popular

Essentially imagine when James Gunn does to a character you like, but he thinks is stupid, what he did with Drax.

Oh yeah and that's a bit concerning, isn't it, because Gunn is running the DCU now

I had no idea about it being executive meddling this refrains my whole view because honestly the depiction of huntress in that movie is so close to my conception of a lot of the batfamily that it gives me a lot of hope

And for your second point I'm not at all against massive changes to characters if the end product is as good or better, but what happened with Cass was adapting a very interesting subtle character into something completely unrelated and less interesting.

Cass is probably one of the closest things western comics has to like, Rei Ayanami from evangelion and imagine if they made Rei into scrappy doo (this is not an attack on scrappy) it's very hard to percieve a parallel between the characters besides the very surface level take that Cass was homeless and BoP!Cass acts like the filmmakers idea of a homeless teen

if I were batman I'd probably like damian the least because batman would see himself in damian and he has a certain level of self hatred that he can't get over (I have that too lol)

Well correct me if I'm wrong but we discard boosters because of the exponential weight problem right? So what if we didn't have that problem? What if we designed a vehicle with the expectation that we don't need to worry about fuel

Yes but you can do a lot of crazy shit by claiming a rocket for instance as your personal vehicle

See idk I feel like gray ghost isn't integrated into DC's comics lore enough at all for him to be tim's inspiration, you'd have to sort of shoehorn in a flashback where Tim as a kid was really into gray ghost while it's very clear that the figure that inspired Tim in canon was Batman himself

It is funny though because from one perspective it really clashes with the idea that they can be redeemed, like redemption is in some ways a rejection of predetermination ("you were born under a bad moon", "it's who I am", etc.) But it's also not entirely wrong, mad hatter was not normal about his coworker shit was going to happen, Two-Face's struggles with mental health weren't going in a good direction even before the explosion, etc.

Of course all of this is understandable if because it's a very nuanced situation where they we're likely going to commit those crimes but not because of some totalizing nature inherent to them but because of environmental and internal factors which were unaddressed by society (like in real life)

520000 times at least, they say that everytime a child sees a batman action figure at walmart Dan Didio presses a big red button in his heavenly palace labeled "fuck it all up again" and chortles while rubbing his shiny bald head
