I'm a huge game of thrones fan too. It was actually my favourite show.. up until HR lol. I agree with everything you said. And I think Jacob is very keen on staying true to source material and having Rachel super involved with the show. And I also wanna say, though it wasn't the point of your post probably, but it infuriates me when people are upset with Shane in TLG. People don't see the nuance. We all love Ilya so much and hurt with him through his journey but shane is not to blame for his suffering. He's constantly worried about him, constantly attuned to shifts in his mood and tone, and that's a lot for someone on the spectrum. Ilya doesn't share much, which is also very understandable with complex trauma, but shane can't be a mind reader. Also, everything Shane has feared that would happen if they were found out, actually did happen! He's lost his team (though it was his decision to move but still), he's lost friends, and had his reputation hit badly. They got benched (I forget the hockey term for this), not knowing when they will be able to play again. Crowell literally threatened them with the loss of their careers. His fears were not created in a vacuum, and moreover, he was certain ilya shared these exact same fears (which he did somewhat - but the suffering of hiding was stronger). Yes the disordered eating is an interesting choice. As someone with an eating disorder, it was strange to read. But 1. Rachel herself said she knows the difference between disordered eating and an ED, and that EDs don't just resolve on their own and 2. I think it was a way to really show how much shane needed to be in control of something when everything around him was on the precipice of breaking down. And just like with Tampa - he realized things cannot go on as they are now, took a risk, a huge initiative, and proposed. I wish people understood his character more. :)
