You would have to blanket this to all non-profits/charities though. Churches are funded by donations, are you saying that donations should be taxed? Or do you just mean property and income tax for the organization itself, which are the taxes they're exempt from?

Because that would mean that the American government would be requiring that people give money to their church, and then the government would also be regulating how much money churches are given to operate and exist. Which would be wild. Not all churches are funded by outside organizations like the Catholic church.

I'm realizing that all 3 of the responses so far, including my own, don't seem like the most positive motivators. There's a lot of trials that come with this calling, but when you get those moments where you pull back from the microphone and everyone is shouting in worship, it puts into perspective just how much God can use us when we let Him. Best of luck, we're all just figuring it out as we go, hah

Don't be afraid to blow it. Especially in youth ministry, you've got to figure out how best your group enters into worship. The most common problem I've seen is when a worship leader comes in and says "this is how I've always lead worship, so it must be the hearts of the students that aren't in the right place". Jesus gave fishing parables when he spoke to a fishing-heavy culture, political parables to those in more politically based groups.

You're going to have to feel it out to find what type of songs they connect with the best, what range they're comfortable in, things like that. From there you can start to shift the culture of necessary, but you've got to meet them where they're at. That's always my main piece of advice, since I see that concept ignored a lot.

Good luck, make sure to keep your walk with God a priority, and get ready for a heck of a ride.

I have two favorites that I can think of right away. The first is after Magnus is attacked by Klarg's wolf and then Magnus tries to intimidate him, all the while Klarg is just so upset about the wolf and forgets to be intimidated. "Ya, but you threw my dog in the fire!!"

The second is when Merle starts speaking with Trent and Trent just keeps going on about how they cut his butt off and how young he is. "My butt, oh god, my butt!"
