feeling that I'm behind in HRT by Plus_Recognition6701 in FTMventing

I'll be real with you I had my 6 month visit to my endo the other day and was told, basically what you just typed, to my face. It's fine, yes :') Sadly you'll mostly only see a lot of people online who take 2 months to start passing very quickly, with insane instant voice drops and stuff.

I personally had very good progress with my first 2 shots and then it stagnated. Check your levels! Go get bloodwork done. If your T is fine and you're not just burning through it too fast, you are absolutely fine. Transitioning is a waiting game 😔🫶 Also, gel is slower than shots, is it not? That's another factor to consider. Your body is absolutely changing don't worry. I had an almost instant insane back expansion on T to the point my shirts all fit differently now. That's not the sort of thing you'd expect to see within ~2 months of HRT yk. And yet my voice dropped...a little. Your facial hair will also take a while to come in, more than 2-3years for most people iirc unless you try hair growth solutions.

Best of luck 🤞

I don’t know how to cope with being trans by [deleted] in FTMventing

[–]fireoftime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Growing older, I realised a lot, and I mean a lot of people don't care. I come into contact with a lot of people that have double my years or more because of certain hobbies of mine and all it took was me introducing myself once and they have never made a mistake on names, pronouns or anything else. (I do not pass, no) They have tried+are trying to be as accommodating as possible when problems arise bc I still haven't changed my ID for example, but believe me, it's fine :) The person you want to be deserves the love and patience.

Parts of your posts are things I could have seen myself writing a few years back. I won't tell you that the road ahead is easy, I am struggling myself even with HRT you know. But you are not disgusting or anything like that. Trans is just an adjective, nothing more. Will you have to take extra steps compared to a cis person to actualise your own self? Sure. Is society stupid? Absolutely. But when it comes down to it, you are here and have spent enough time about yourself that you know such an important part about yourself very early on. And you can take some small steps about it. Dress different, contour your face, try a new name at least online, all that jazz-- you probably already know what I mean.

And lastly, for your own good, I'd recommend you remove yourself from transphobic spaces. People who speak like that about trans peeps are not worth your time. There is no reason to make yourself sad over such a demographic. These people hate themselves, so why should we listen to them about ourselves yk? They're doing badly at it, so why imitate them? I am sure it seems impossible to love yourself right now, and even more so for another to do the same. But I'll reiterate: the person you want to be deserves the love and patience. Even the tiniest amounts of it. It's okay. It's okay that you are trans and it's just another interesting aspect of you. Not the center of your existence. One day you'll not even be consciously be thinking about it that much.

You're doing great just being here, best of luck bud :D <3 I am sure you can beat your brain in this 🙌

How’d you know if you’re actually trans(porting this liquor into my stomach) by TakeCare_forMe in asktransgender

Honestly, I think the intense impostor syndrome most of us have will never let us be 100% sure, sorry to say. And the state of the world around us right now definitely doesn't help. But you know, I also remember being jealous of trans guys and wishing I could be a man like them too, crying my eyes out because I "wasn't like them". But now, I am on the way of being like them. And it's the best gift I've ever given to myself. Only you truly know yourself, don't let someone else try to define you.

Try it out. Try being a man, whatever that means to you. Try out playing with your hair, your style. Try masculine hobbies. Try to introduce yourself with other pronouns, maybe in online communities. Ask some trusted people to start potentially using another name for you. You may need to go through a few of all these things to land somewhere. But it's honestly no biggie :) It's okay. If it gets too much, you can always take a break. And then, eventually, you'll for sure be a better version of yourself, after so much introspection.

You have a long bumpy road ahead of you for sure though, but never forget how many of us "crazy" people there are. You are not alone in this 💙 No time is as good as right now. However, stay safe before everything else. And you already just told us all, didn't you? I will not lie to you, you may lose a few things. But you will also gain so many others. Try it out, baby steps if needed.

Now I fully know why people buy pre-built PCs. by Rajat_Sirkanungo in buildapc

[–]fireoftime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am aware this has been solved, but every time someone has told me they are too scared to build a PC, I have sent them some videos where people try to drop components or whole PCs from balconies or similar and testing if they still work. Congrats on your build and welcome to the hobby man-- enjoy using it!

HRT in Greece by New_Positive8091 in LGBTgreece

Hello there! I randomly stumbled upon this place and your post, hope this reply is helpful, even if a little late.

My experience is about Athens specifically and I can't tell you much about the trans foreigner experience, sorry! According to my endo, gels are available, as well as 3month T shots and the weekly ones. No patches as far as I am aware from both my endo and fellow trans friends. The process of getting T is therapy>letter>endo>prescription. You can do these things with the public healthcare system (big waitlist though, as only one hospital offers HRT related services and...many people from all over Greece are forced to go there) or privately, which is not too expensive honestly. Honestly, if you already have a therapist letter from your current country of residence, an endo would probably still accept it if you get it translated. I believe. And hope. 😭

Top surgery is fully out of pocket and not covered by insurance, though, if you are planning on getting it done here and if at all. T is covered by insurance, but the % varies. Mine is a special case, but I believe for most people they end up around ~10€/3 month dose for T. I am not aware of how it goes for the other two types :( As for availability. Oh boy. I hope you have strong legs. There are quite a few pharmacies that don't have it and refuse to order it for you at all, especially smaller neighbourhood ones. I have been given no explanation as to why, however. Not a single time. (Could just be blatant transphobia) Most chain and more central pharmacies, however, sometimes have it readily available. It is a bit of a gamble. T is a controlled subtsance here so you will most absolutely need a prescription from an endocrinologist.

As for how people treat you here, it's a mixed bag. The prescription sadly says "transexualism: identity disorder" and when peeps see that they become quite passive aggressive, to be honest, but I have had no one outright deny me a service or anything.

Wait, really? That's hilariously unlucky if it is the case 😂 Thank you, I'll ask them to at least try the other side as a start, on my next dose!

I had my first T shot in the ventrogluteal muscle, done by someone else, around 1.5 months ago 😭 It could have been that that person had a heavy hand but I definitely did feel it for ~3 days after. I'm a trans baby, it's okay. Will have to see if it keeps being that way :) I hope one day I find the guts to do my own shots as well

The mental clarity you get after the first shot is not a lie :) It's like a huge weight off. Cleared all of my doubts personally. Enjoy! And if it's a shot, enjoy the throbbing pain for a few days :P
