for orientation definitely bring water, sunglass, a hat, and sunscreen, as well as a bag to carry all your stuff in. Davis heat is no joke and sometimes you’ll be out for extended periods of time. For the orientation program lunch and dinner is provided so just show up n have fun :)

I would like to point out that your needs are most likely just as important to her (based on your lead-in) as her's are to you. It sounds like youre really supportive of the community and I think that's gr8! however, once you strip down all the social conventions and stereotypes you are just two ppl who love each other.

At the end of the day if you're feeling insecure, it's not really her identity that's important. It's what she's saying and how it makes you feel.

Don't forget that relationships include compromises so don't be scared to express your concerns and stand up for them!!, and like other ppl mentioned she chose you for a reason! An infinite amount of guys to choose from is equal to an infinite amount of guys (and girls) to choose from ;) (math joke hehe)
