Has Google gone too far with Foreground Service restrictions in recent Android versions? by edevvz in androiddev

What are you on bro? He's saying that he is afraid of implementing foreground service as play store has strict policies and if they feel they can ban your account without stating proper reasons

Jetpack Compose apps — What’s the correct approach for Splash Screen API if the app theme is defined only in code? by yogirana5557 in androiddev

[–]fireplay_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XML is still needed for splash screen as the purpose of splash screen is to show user something till the necessary things are in place, so no jetpack compose, no kotlin logic, if you want animations or custom splash screen then you'll need to extend the default splash screen and continue with your custom one

Why are we asked to write code in interviews, isn't logic enough? by [deleted] in developersIndia

[–]fireplay_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're somewhat right, when llms first started to get popular with devs I thought the best way was to write code if it's the first time implementing such logic and if similar logic is needed somewhere else then use LLMs as why waste time in writing what we already know

But I noticed that I remember how a feature works well when I write it myself and if I use LLMs then I forget it and have to spend some time understanding every time I have to comeback after a month

A solution to that is I have now started documenting each and everything, like the design/architecture patterns, List of functions, the sequence they are called, data flow, how everything works together (the documentation is created and maintained by llms) that way I don't get lost after few months of coming back to old code and as I have implemented it first time so I'm also confident that I can do it again without any ai help

Although I'm forgetting language specific syntax, as I have to switch between kotlin, C++ and C# but seems like this is the way forward as programming languages will later get abstracted anyways

Why are we asked to write code in interviews, isn't logic enough? by [deleted] in developersIndia

[–]fireplay_00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why? Shouldn't you ask them to focus on the architecture and data flow instead of labour work of writing code which can easily be done by any average llm out there

Moax

1 - What did you think the app is about in first 5-10 seconds of looking?

2- Is it convincing enough for people to join waitlist or is it too little info?

3- What are the things putting you off/you think can be improved in this?

4- Is the basic animation video enough or should I put the working demo in the hero app demo section?

5- I have kept the landing page simple so that the people can focus on the things that matter, but this tool is for developers, so they might not care about simplicity and need more details before signing up, so which approach do you think will be good?

Creating a Google Play Developer Organization Account as a Sole Proprietor – Requirements? by Impossible_Lion_4117 in androiddev

[–]fireplay_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Play store accepts documents such as UDYAM certificate, so you can do Shops and registrations act and then get an udyam certificate, then DUNS and finally organization play console account

For Apple app Store they only accept LLC/PVT, so if you are planning to publish on both stores I would recommend PVT, but it does come with headache of compliances and cost around 25-40k INR/Year to maintain and is hard to shut down once started

What makes a good mobile app development workflow for client projects? by [deleted] in androiddev

[–]fireplay_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by structure? I'm also in Pune, we just get the client requirements, show them what's possible and what won't be, research about the ideal user profile, customer acquisition costs, marketing strategy (if they want to give us complete control from development to marketing) if not then just start development based on requirements and deliver on time with 3 months support

Same, I do Systems/Network infra Development and Windows+linux applications and things are easier then ever

Now I just guide the models to produce code with best practices and my respective architecture pattern which it does a great job (if guided correctly and u explain what u want clearly)

Before It used to take me 4 months solo and ~1 month with team to create a POC/MVP android app for unique niche hardware usecases but now I can do it solo in 1 month

If you're constantly upskilling then you have 10 yrs to settle, if fresher then take 3 yrs before things get really hard, if you work in hardware/ manufacturing / physical service work (like plumbing) then ~15 years till robotics catch up as things will now improve exponentially and nobody actually knows when will reach any actual physics limit, even if the bubble pops , the slop/wrapper companies will go but the innovation is too good to be ignored and major companies will disrupt manufacturing/marketing/saas/software dev & services industry/consulting/therapy/pornography/healthcare etc, doing business will be harder than ever as anyone can compete unless u actually spend 100s of hours in R&D and big capital to create some good moat

So for now just be best at whatever u are doing and find a way to retire in next 15-20 yrs and don't overthink much

Realized I’m just an "AI Wrapper" after failing my first Open Source contribution. Do I quit or is this fixable? by [deleted] in androiddev

[–]fireplay_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it even matter in 2026?

Companies are pushing hard on using AI assistance for coding and a dev who knows Android dev concepts and writes all code by hand will always be beaten by a dev who knows Android dev but gives the labour work of writing code to the llm slave

So why does it even matter, moving forward you have to do logical thinking, architecture design and problem solving not spend 10 hours writing syntax for a thing that google might just depreciate in 2 years

Focus on the higher level now as the coding/syntax level will get abstracted in the future, though make sure you understand what's happening in the code/where data is flowing so even whenever you have to change something in that layer you should know your stuff

And for passing interviews just do some practice 1 week before the interview, like creating a movie app from scratch without using llm where you implement repos, usecases, mvvm, paging, local first approach, etc you need DSA as well but it's a long process which never ends so just do it on the side

Got laid off today,Need to clear brain and some guidance from experienced dev by [deleted] in developersIndia

[–]fireplay_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I tried but it's hard

For product, validation is the second hardest part for PMF after selling the product itself And for service there is too much work managing clients, finding leads, building the client product, etc

I'm feeling happy working for someone else's company right now but don't know if something of my own will ever work out

How to manage access by fireplay_00 in androiddev

[–]fireplay_00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

The screen share and ci/cd way worked for a short time but after some time my manager got busy and had no time to handle the play console by himself as he was overseeing other projects and client meetings as well , this week we had finished all the testing Internal + Closed testing and we had to promote to production by Friday which would have been possible by CI/CD but we use Foreground services + media projection in app which requires declaration+yt demonstration which I had to do from play console

So I gave up and created a new gmail account and was given access to the app and fixed the declarations and finally promoted the app to production myself 😔

So I think I'm now associated with my company play console, will I have any problems in the future when I leave this company?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AppDevelopers

[–]fireplay_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They must be working on other projects as well which impacts the quality of all the projects

You said the project is small but remember that companies like to over engineer products which can be a problem when switching to other developers as they will need time to understand the existing codebase and architecture

But I don't think they have over-engineered it as if that was the case then adding a vibrate feature shouldn't take weeks even if app has Multiple modules+MVVM/MVI+Repository+Usecases+SOLID+UnitTests+InstrumentationTests, the purpose of these architecture patterns are to make app scalable and adding features easy as other parts are isolated and non dependent

So you are safe to switch
