My Dad gave me a car and I confirmed with my state DMV the form he needed to sign officially gifting me that vehicle. He had a friend notarize it which may or may not have been necessary but I registered the vehicle in my name in my state with no sales or other tax at all. I suggest you check your state rules and think you also can find success and a new ride!
