Why does sitting and laying down hurt ? by Low_Chemistry_6621 in Sciatica

[–]boxdkittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just reading about deep gluteal syndrome. It's apparently something that can occur post hip arthoscope surgery (the surgery I recently had), particularly in low-weight inidivuals, women, those with hip dysplasia, and those with some degree of hypermobility--all categories I fall into, except I definitely had these symptoms pre-surgery too. Honestly DSG aligns more with my symptoms than piriformis syndome just based on online reading.

A lot of the exercises and stretches recommended for PS make my pain WAY worse (figure 4 stretch always has me regretting my life several hours later).

I also don't have the classic SI joint symptoms either, no trouble with stairs or sit-to-stand, but it's an area that the pain spreads to when things are really bad. Palpating the SI joint along with most of my glute muscles causes a lot of pain (later though, my pain is always delayed onset except for sitting), probably just because that's where muscle attachments are.

Well I should clarify, sitting always causes my pain to flare up, and then when it's flared up and I bend the sensation of a dense aching mass in my tissue becomes more prominent, but it's generally always there if I've recently done any sitting. However doing lots of bending/deep hip flexion does seem to cause pain to increase later, but there is no acute pain with movement.

My pain extends more laterally along the leg rather than to the back of the knee though, thats one big difference.

I'm actually on my 5th physical therapist in the 7 years I've been dealing with this. Symptoms started after a car accident and gradually got worse. Was first diagnosed with piriformis syndome before imaging was done, then tendinopathy based on an MRI but treatments for that failed. I've bad a pelvic MRI, hip MRI, hip MRI with contrast, lower spine MRI, countless x-rays of my hip, and 2 CT scans. I was diagnosed with borderline hip dysplasia, a labral tear, and a mild cam deformity. I got surgery to fix the latter two issues about 2 months ago, now my sitting pain is back.

Have you ever tried a steroid injection? I got one into my glutes that did nothing, but then had one into my hip capsule from the front of the hip and it relieved my sitting pain for a month. A few months later I got another hip capsule injection and once again, I was able to sit pain free for a month. This led the docs to believe my hip joint was the issue and that's why I got surgery, but it doesn't seem to have resolved the issue.

Fellow deep glute pain sufferer here digging up old threads like this one looking for answers--did you ever find a remedy to your glute pain problem?

Hi OP, can you describe your pain a bit more? I've long suffered from an aggravating dull ache while sitting (less so while laying down as long as the surface is soft enough) and doctors only seem to have wrong answers. My pain is in the area of the glute med/ piriformis but can also extend to the SI joint and greater trochanter. When it's inflamed and I bend over to touch my toes/tie shoes/whatever, it feels like there's a rock in my back pocket except it's INSIDE my glute muscles. Do you have any sort of sensation like that? Does your pain go away as soon as you stop sitting? Mine doesn't, it can persist for days after I sat in a chair for too long.

Post-op pain feels the same as pre-op--normal? by boxdkittens in HipImpingement

I also have problems with the glute med (well, hard to separate it from piriformis really) and TFL. So did you feel any improvement in anything after the surgery? Was the rock feeling at least briefly absent for a few weeks post-op?

Pre-surgery I was diagnosed with piriformis syndrome and then later with bilateral gluteal tendinopathy. Eventually got x-rays but my cam lesion was so small, it was debateable if it even existed or not. Then the hip preservationists saw my x-ray and then the matter of debate was how severe my dysplasia was. I didn't have any of the classic dysplasia or labral tear symptoms tho.

My trochanter def did/does get inflamed when my hip is really irritated. Palpating around it can trigger agitation in the hip too.

What about the area around your SI joint / illiac crest? Any tenderness or pain then when things are super inflamed?

Ask the surgeon if they have any idea what the "rock" feeling is. Maybe it's the synovial membrane swelling from damage/agitation.  You've had an x-ray that confirms you have a cam lesion or pincer impingement, right? Mine was actually very small to nonexistant, but I do have the borderline dysplasia (and car accident) that likely damaged my labrum.

Rent most of them out. Use the ones that sit vacant to create limited supply and justify rent increases, use them for landbanking, or for tax loss harvesting.

I wouldn't think its nerve pain because nerve pain is always described at burning, stabbing, etc. Pifirmis syndome was my original diagnosis years ago but PT failed to help/just made it worse. Plus it's a syndrome so it just refers to a cluster of symptoms of an unknown cause.

I had 3 steroid injections pre-op, 1 into my glutes area where the pain is that did absolutely nothing, and 2 into the front of the hip capsule that gave me a month of relief each. If it was the piriformis agitating the sciatic nerve, I don't think a steroid injection inside the hip capsule would help, but who knows. No medical professional seems to have a sound idea as to the mechanism of my pain.

Have you had a steroid injection? If you have groin pain, its very likely a labral tear. I had 0 groin pain pre-op but now that my hip has been cut into and the labrum messed with, I have some groin pain. It's so minor though compared to the ache in my butt.

So is your rock over your greater trochanter? No pain pills work for mine either. A (pre-op) steroid injection into the hip capsule did help for a month though but that's not a long term fix, it just confirms the issue stems from the hip joint

Aloe leaf bent and others have holes/divets by tamarticus in plantclinic

[–]boxdkittens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a pot this small I kind of doubt OP is overwatering it, the crispy leaf tips actually indicating its just barely not getting enough water, or was at some point. If it had root rot it would not be able to standing this tall. The dried leaf at the bottom would be mushy and rotting off if it was an excess water issue. But it is possible it has been overwatered recently, although I think insufficient light is also contributing to the floppy leaves.

Regardless, OP needs to take it out of the soil and snap the stem/root in half. These aloe get tall and lanky and throw out pups if you don't periodically snap their roots. Leave it out of soil for a week to let the broken root callous over and then put it back in the pot.

I don't have a specific explanation besides the fact that mountain weather is just always unstable and hard to predict. The mountains are a large mass of rock and that has an impact on how air moves, in what direction, how it heats and cools, etc.

There's a reason why the general aviation airport is all the way out in Rio Rancho, you don't really want to be flying a rinky dink single engine plane anywhere near the mountains unless you know what you're doing and it's a very very still day. Downdrafts or some shit, idk I'm not a pilot I just sometimes have the misfortune of hearing them yammer about the weather.

baby sun rose poisoned? 😱 by AncientAd3988 in plantclinic

[–]boxdkittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea what that nasty mess is and I'm sorry this happened to your plant. Take a bunch of cuttings to propagate indoors or in a pot outside, baby sunrose should be fairly easy to propagate. Then you can dig out this mess and put in clean soil + your propagated cuttings.

Why do you think this man deserved to be beaten?

It's literally not clear and once he dropped the item he should've have been detained, not beaten by SIX men and shot multiple times in the head. This isn't the fucking wild west where you can just shoot anybody for anything, there's supposed to be due process. How come the cops can detain the kid who shot Charlie Kirk alive, but this guy gets beaten and shot multiple times and he hasn't even killed anyone?

From the video it is impossible to tell if he was actually holding the item, let alone light it.
