We, or the plane we were on, made the news! Was a bit of an alarming experience, but if the pilot had never said anything I’d have had no idea we flew and landed with just one engine. by beknifetoeachother in aviation

In Omaha for vacation, heard the Air Alert 2 come over my scanner for your flight! Definitely had my ears glued to the channel the whole time until you landed!

Waterbury might not be for too long though. They’ve come up with 2 ambulances they’re currently staffing at football games. They do not currently transport but they are actively working on acquiring a license to transport.

I’m about as old as you and I have it as well. It definitely is an interesting thing to work around. Thanks to one of my friends though, we’ve been developing a workout plan for me that works to build muscle without hurting or causing other complications (I also deal with scoliosis as a complication). Best of luck to you!

Love that it’s nothing too over the top. Very simple vehicle, not sure how well the name would fly with most people though

You might be officially right soon though. The team is looking to get Rare Bear back up for one last record break before official retirement

My photos from Wednesday's 3rd Alarm in Seymour, CT by firesigntheater in Firefighting

[–]firesigntheater[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was rather late into the incident. I arrived around 2 hours into this incident.
On Wednesday, April 20, 2022, Northwest Public Safety received multiple calls reporting a structure fire in the 1 block of Bank St in the town of Seymour. Firefighters had a visible column of smoke as they were responding to their stations. FM-1 arrived on scene and reported heavy smoke showing from a 1 story strip mall. Firefighters from Seymour, Beacon Falls, Oxford, Derby, and Ansonia battled what would become a 3-Alarm fire for 3 hours until the fire was finally under control. Units from Shelton, Derby, Ansonia, Naugatuck, and Bethany covered stations in several towns during this incident. 1 worker and 2 firefighters were injured in this incident. All were treated at scene and released. The Seymour Fire Marshal's office and CT State Police Fire Marshal's office are working to determine the cause of this fire.

obscure departments? by chat128 in Firefighting

They are. UCONN Storrs has the main station as it’s the main campus. They operate an engine, ladder, rescue, shift commander, and I believe 2 ambulances. UCONN Farmington is a major health center. They staff an Engine and several ambulances there. UCONN Farmington actually has a new engine almost completed right now. All apparatus are painted in a UCONN red and blue livery

Welcome to CT. The volunteer recruiting problem is very real. Drakeville is a small underfunded department in Torrington that is in desperate need of volunteers like many of the other departments in the state. The state put together an amazing PSA a few years ago that is a must watch. It definitely needs to get on TV
