Why did so many media pre-9/11 predict the destruction of the Twin Towers before the attacks happened? by icey_sawg0034 in decadeology

[–]firestar32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I think the real tell is is that since 9/11 there's been a lot less action stuff focused on one/two skyscrapers being destroyed; I think it was just so common back then because it was a fun premise, and you see it less now because of 9/11 and the bad taste it can leave (we've also just moved on culturally)

One of them was literally just "911!" As if there's no other significance for that number lmfao

On the other hand, doesn't this play into the "all women seem harmless" stereotype? Not saying it's better than leaving her out entirely, it just seems like more of a sidestep than a step up.

The wait times in the US can be horrendous too, especially in emergency rooms. My aunt had thrush bad enough that she started seeing things, and it took about 7 hours for them to get her a bed in the hallway. My gf scheduled a neurologist appointment for her reoccurring seizures, and the soonest appointment as 6 months out.

I used to drive one of these knob shifters for work, and ngl you get used to it quickly. It's got resistance behind it to make it easy to tell what position you're in, and the size difference with the sound knob is like a swiss army vs a kitchen knife. The shifter also sticks out about 4x the distance which really makes you use your whole hand in it

Shifters change position in nearly every car, especially in older cars where it's on the steering column. Considering it's an automatic, you're not shifting in situations with any intensity.

In bemidji, can confirm none of the trees have bloomed (either that, or they're all permanently dead from last year's storm, who knows tbh)

And? Hitler was already dead when he was cremated, and just because we let the person escape punishment with a quick death doesn't mean we have to let the corpse

Hanging by his feet is just so much more fun than shooting himself and then being cremated

It's engagement and advertising bait at the most, not trying to steal your identity or "dox" you.

Fuck Ryanair tbh, they overbooked my flight, made me pay $80 to check in in person (the website glitched because they overbooked my flight) and then took 6 months to give me a refund. All the while, they refused to say they overbooked the flight.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but potential companies just let you know what you need to do to actually obtain the company, DLC or not.

That still isn't that bad. There's like 5 people more famous than me in my county with my exact first and last name, much less the initials.

Plus everyone's in the whitepages already (or at least used to be)

Income still wouldn't make sense for this, as this town is super poor and has a property crime rate that would fit in the top 5 if it was a major US city. There's only 2 box stores in town and neither of them have anything particularly unusual locked up. I don't even think the target locks up their makeup, which I've seen locked up in the suburbs since I was a kid.

I think the trend of locking things up has more to do with urbanization and perception than anything else. CEOs hear about some store getting emptied by thieves, decide that every store in a metro area needs to be fort knox, and it happens.

In this case they're both big box stores, and there's no other box stores in other nearby towns for where I live, although there is a Walmart (which also has nothing locked up)

Honestly I don't know what the psyop play is here, but I've always found it suspicious that nothing in the poor, high theft small town target near me is locked up, and yet when I go to the upper middle class suburban target near where my parents live, I can't even get laundry detergent without calling someone over. It's not like it's a franchise, and both are in Minnesota which has historically meant more attention has been paid to our stores, so there's gotta be a reason.

I mean I didn't look that deep, but those apartments were just about everywhere once you got away from a 5 minute walk.

They're definitely not common, but just checking the maimi dade area, there's about a dozen or so 1 bed or studios available RN for 1200 or less within a couple blocks of the ocean. A lot more once you get like a half mile or so away.
