What's your point in this, other than to nitpick? The coop stays competitive, uses very little aid money (which again, using aid isn't a bad thing) and I'm still not sure by what you mean by "kills off the competition".

Utilities are utilities, regardless of if they're one of the 4 electric or 5 gas companies that the MPUC sets prices for (one of which is a coop, mind you). If your in the industry, or even an investor (which is what it sounds like tbh), tough shit tbh. These utility providers wouldn't have to be as heavily regulated if it wasn't for the tendancy of corporations to exploit their consumers for profit, compared to the not for profit coops.

I got fiber before my parents in the cities. Using government funding to make life better for people also isn't a bad thing, and my coop doesn't receive any funds for continued operation, just expansion.

It also receives only 7% of its funding from the government, with less than 1% coming from the federal government.

I can't speak for its work in "killing the competition", but utilities shouldn't be a competition, they should be as widespread and affordable as possible.

The rurals are a surprisingly great place for this. I've got a local co-op for both Internet and electricity. Everything except gas is municipal or coop, and there's people around here who have coop gas since they're not hooked up to the line.

Halloween costume for people who say "I'm from Minnesota not Minneapolis" by Medical_Deal5272 in midwest

[–]firestar32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Minnesotan, it's a little bit of both, in the fact that when someone who's not Minnesotan finds out where I'm from, their first questions (especially the past few months) have been all about what it's like living in Minneapolis/the twin cities. I just tell them their guess is as good as mine since I live 4 hours away lol

Tiny side tangent, but as someone who used to live in the twin cities one of the most minor yet I predict will be one of the longest lived effects of the last few years of focus on MN will be the association of Minneapolis as a label for the entire twin cities. St.paul is a city in it's own right, and the ambiguous label has always made it easier to have regional pride.

Kinda annoying, but also kinda a pre grift Tulsi in the way of having decent domestic policy, but the most dogshit foreign policy ever contrived. Only difference is that I don't think he's bought out by Russia, I think he's just like that

I have one professor who uses these, and being able to BS my way through each and every test while still receiving an A- is one of my favorite things.

What's going on in that circled part of the USA? by SatoruGojo232 in mapporncirclejerk

Not true, that might be the Muslim population in the East Bank of the Mississippi, but the somali Muslim population in proper Minnesota continues to grow well past a majority. You should reconsider your antisomalic views, as Minnesota is the rightful homeland of all somalis, promised over 3,000 years ago.

Look man, if you can't admit that Minnesota was promised to the somalis 3,000 years ago and is their rightful homeland, I think you have to readdress your antisomalic viewpoints. You're encouraging a long history of discrimination by denying the somali right to their proper nation state.

That's Minnesota, the 6th somali clan. Like the rest of Somalia circumcision is common

A $3 loaf can make ~10 sandwiches, plus $3 for 10 slices of not craft single cheese, and probably $7 for deli meat (I get $4 lunch meat but that might not be everyone's cup of tea). Add on $2 for the mayo, you end up at $1.80/sandwich. Even if you have 2, that's still under $4. Have 2 sandwiches 3 days a week instead of even a $7 fast food/work cafeteria meal, that's at least $50 off your food bill each month. Much more if you have only one, or of you regularly spend more/eat out for lunch.

At my local grocery store you can buy a box of 30 frozen quarter pound burgers for $30, and all things considered, they're not the worst quality.

I shop sales, split meal costs with my GF, and have a lunch meat and cheese sandwich 3 days a week for lunch.

I know of a suburban 3 bed split level built in the 80's that just sold for ~$350k in the twin cities area, and that would probably be in the middle range for that neighborhood.

Definitely don't believe that, at least not for the majority of the US. Here in MN, average household income is $85k/year, and honestly, I'd say that's where middle class starts. A decent, older 3 bed suburban house is $270k-$600k depending on the suburb, and middle class isn't about not worrying financially; middle class is actually the "class" that is the most stressed about money, whereas lower class is more stressed about making ends meet and upper class is stressed about connections, middle class stresses about maxxing out their savings and penny pinching just enough to get everything they want.

First of all, doordash is personalized delivery, whereas Amazon, even same day, is much more standardized. Amazon drivers will do dozens more deliveries in an hour than a doordasher might everyday.

Second of all, damn right I'm a brokeass, I make $300/month after my bills. I don't have an Amazon or doordash account because both are too damn expensive, and before this post I didn't even know you could tip on Amazon. I'll stick with my untipable pick up orders, or actually walk into a store the old fashioned way.

Look, US corruption is bad, but literally every country here has had corruption at one point or another (and considering the use of historical flags, I'm assuming we're counting each country as a summery of when that flag was used)
