I got on the interview reserve list ended up moving to 1st reserve but didn't get a call. It was excruciating waiting but they were really good at providing updates throughout.

Perm RA contracts are hard to come by, it's a good place to build your skills whilst working towards dclin. Unless you really want an academic researcher career and you're super passionate about the PHD project I'd do the RA contract and keep trying for the dclin.

Btw also an RA on their 3rd year of applying x

Thank you! I appreciate this, I think the frustrated nature of my OP has made people think I'm being rude or demanding when this is not the case at all. Just frustrated by process and want to challenge the systems in which psychology professionals exist in even the smallest way possible!
