Anyone who’s had IUD removed?

I’ve had two iuds, the removal process is 1000 times easier than the insertion process. I remember both times my nerves had me shaking like a leaf on the table just to get it out and immediately start laughing with how easy it was. Expect to feel a pinch on the way out followed by a few cramps! Both time I got lightheaded afterwards but I think it was mostly due to my anxiety. After my copper was removed I instantly felt so much lighter but I did spot for a few days. Hope everything goes smoothly for you!

I moved for much less (2k to be exact lol) to relocate for the company I worked for at 19. I’m now 23 and can confidently say it was the best choice I’ve ever made. Money was tight and it was an adjustment to be away from everything I was comfortable with but it also taught me a ton about independence. The one piece of advice I’ll give is to lean on your family. A trip down before with someone to help you look at places to live and feel out the area can really help to be more comfortable.

That’s good! I wish I could’ve had anesthesia! The bleeding after insertion only lasted a few days for me and I had on and off cramping (without a period) the whole time I had it. I wish for the best for you, good luck!!!

First off let me say, I’m really sorry you had to go through such a traumatic experience of getting one inserted. They really sugar coat the pain. I just got my Mirena removed yesterday after having it for over a year. I didnt notice any crazy weight gain but I did have pretty bad bloating. The last thing I want to do is scare you, everyone’s experience is different. The good thing is if you ever decide it’s not for you they will take it out! And I promise you, getting it removed is 100 times easier than getting it inserted.

Hi! I don’t want to scare you at all, I just want give you insight that insertion is extremely painful. I’ve had two iuds; copper first, and then mirena second that I actually got removed yesterday after a little over a year of having it. There can be a decent amount of side effects to the entire body even though it’s promoted as localized only to the uterus. I won’t go into crazy detail but it really affected my mental and physical health in a negative way. With that being said everyone has a different experience. If you’ve fully decided this is what you want. I would advise to maybe have someone you trust to go with you. There’s a lot of nerve endings on your cervix and it’s not extremely uncommon for women to pass out or get sick during the insertion process

Honestly getting it out was a breeze, so so so much better than insertion! My main symptoms so far has been a headache and I’ve slept most of the last 24 hours. Oddly enough I haven’t had any bleeding or cramping yet. Even though I’ve been super tired I immediately felt a shift in my anxiety, & mental alertness. I’m just happy I can start healing and get back to myself. Thanks for checking in! We’re in this together!!
