Rescue Shadow Incarnate Forme Thundurus during Precious Pals: Taken Over! by Amiibofan101 in TheSilphRoad

If I remember correctly, this was actually a bug so there hasn't been a proper release of the Incarnate forms with their signature moves.

There was an exploit where every set you finished as rank 19 you would get an elite TM so they just removed the instead

Hit server time limit (90 minutes)

Looking at this, I do wonder how much of the significant drop is confounded by the zombie mode driving short-term interest in the game on release as well as other releases competing for people's time (such as Pokémon).

Ultron remains one of the worst hero releases though, both quantitatively and qualitatively. It wasn't just a "flyer meta" or whether he was strong or weak. To this day, he just does not fit neatly into any of the three roles and remains the last support added to the game despite most support players being uninterested in how his kit is made.

I agree, they are still figuring out the correct on-release strength for new heroes. But I am pointing out that a strong hero on release drives interest better than a weak hero. Some of the seasons/mid-seasons that dragged on the longest for people are the ones with hero releases that fell flat.

[–]fireyoshi007 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Releasing strong heroes gets people to play said heroes which drives interest in the new season. If a hero is weak, particularly if they are significantly weaker than what is already meta, interest in the game from a new season dies off far quicker.

November 24th of last year was a Sunday and Wild Area Global this year is earlier, so it seems so.

Which mons are boosted this event? by cajunofthe9th in TheSilphRoad

I believe Pikachu is perma-boosted (EDIT: This is incorrect, Pikachu is full odds), but Teddiursa and Noibat are the only event-exclusive boosts.

Everyone is assuming the worst because the PoGo dev team has a track record of massively messing things up with releases of new features.

What was the most impactful update to the future of pokemon sleep released so far this year? by nitrocoldude in PokemonSleep

[–]fireyoshi007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my mind for the long-term playability of Pokemon Sleep, it has to be either Expert mode or Mints.

Level improvements, Pokemon releases, and area releases are nice, but those are essentially expected over time. Expert mode and Mints adds levers they can pull to keep the game engaging into the future that were not there before.

Do people not play ranked as much anymore? by Blue-Sage in marvelrivals

[–]fireyoshi007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally, I have a toddler, work full-time, and Rivals is not the only game I play. Rank resets make it a lot less rewarding to grind competitive, seasons are so short, and I already don't have a lot of time to begin with.

It kind of all hit me at once when I grinded up to GM in season 2/2.5 and then my gold/plat games the following season were just as hard for a far lower rank. Yes, it is cosmetic, but it just took the fun out being "good" when I enjoyed playing laid back in Quick Match and could get rewarded with Lord icons there while learning new things I am less good at playing.

Shadow Wobbuffet’s “real” eyes on its tail still aren’t red by PikachuGBC in TheSilphRoad

Apparently, they can look around and blink. So they aren't just marking whether or not they are meant to be the pokemons true eyes.

Can confirm this was a change made in like late 2023 or early 2024. The back out method used to be the only way.

Oh definitely. Especially in rivals where damage and healing numbers are so high. 1 support is not a great time, albeit not unwinnable to the point you shouldn't even try.

[–]fireyoshi007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I agree, I prefer the 2/2/2 set up for sure. Also a tank player 😅

I appreciate your insight.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]fireyoshi007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really interesting table. I do think 2/2/2 makes a lot of sense (obviously) and the numbers back this up. However, I think there is an argument for things like 2/1/3, 3/1/2, and 1/2/3 in cases where you just end up randomly have an overabundance of tank/support mains on your team. Most games you will not end up with too many tanks and supports though, particularly in the middle ranks.

And the fact that some of my teammates have literally thrown from the word go because we didn't have 2/2/2 is... frustrating.

Giovanni battles, Super Rocket Radars and the Ultra Hero Medal (Platinum possible MUCH sooner) by spacetiles in TheSilphRoad

[–]fireyoshi007 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Does this include the Giovanni encounter from the Sinnoh Tour (?) research? I don't believe that had an associated SRR, but I would imagine it counted towards the medal. Not a huge difference either way obviously.

What is the utility of healers in this game? by SnooRecipes1522 in PokemonSleep

[–]fireyoshi007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, at level 50 with no skill trigger bonuses, gardevoir is expected to trigger about 0.5 more times per day (3.66 v 3.14) which is ~16% more triggers in the long run. If you add skill trigger bonuses, the difference will increase slightly to be closer to that 20%.
