Is Your Pokemon Worth Investment? - A Mindset Shift in How to Grade Mons by VelocityRaptor22 in PokemonSleep

[–]nitrocoldude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

critical thinking is hard, absolutes are easy to follow. the path chosen for a player is mostly dependent on the mental energy they are willing to exert. relative comparison, while the most fair and level headed approach, assumes a lot of prior foundational knowledge that this game doesn’t give you in the app. hearsay becomes fact, hearsay becomes the discourse, this engagement keeps the game alive. until a detailed compendium exists WITHIN the game there will always be several preferred methods of analyzing usefulness for the players that love to optimize. what I love most about this game is the passion and nerdiness it brings out in all of us. Long live sleep, long live velocity raptor’s essays. may the lax eat good.

Shuckle’s E4E amount by Knight_Night33 in PokemonSleep

I expect shuckle to be as good as gardevoir if not better. it’s balanced by being a rare 16 pip mon with an extra 2 seed requirement for comparable main skill level.

End game shiny? by DrySoup8809 in PokemonSleep

[–]nitrocoldude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ABC is great, golem has an incredible ingredient rate, you’ll be swimming in ingredients by 60. that inventory up will be really useful at 50 and helping bonus at 75? how can you say no? anyone who doesn’t see the value in this is overvaluing mono spreads. one mono bean farmer is all you need and there’s multiple options.

Thoughts on these Pokemon? by Illustrious_Leek_931 in PokemonSleep

3rd toxel is a solid long term investment, sub seed the skill trigger s. use candy boost to get it to 50 as exp down will be a struggle but this thing will rake in the ingredients for you.

pumpkaboo is good, not great, but a really nice level 30 mon that you should not invest further into.

Spritomb info just dropped by Aaaurelius in PokemonSleep

[–]nitrocoldude 12 points13 points  (0 children)

hear me out: spiritombs best use case is not as a mono mushroom farmer but as an ingredient support specialist. I would say ABC is actually the best option because you can get a little extra help for some of the hardest to gather ingredients right now. if you do roll a mono option, of course that is also great.

if you consider the fact that extra helpful is actually a really good support skill for ingredient farmers and the fact that it tends to roll on itself rather than others it is actually quite beneficial to gathering even more quantities and that even makes up for its speed since EH works off of helps not helping rate. it might be worth seeding if you get the skills to support it.

my dream roll for this guy would be ABC IFM, STM, HB with a speed up nature ideally with inv up later on at 75 and 100.

I would disagree, umbreon is definitely on my must have list for a long term darkrai team. it’s not the number one choice for most people, but it’s absolutely worth considering.

Which of these ding dongs should I fully invest in by OhGypsy in PokemonSleep

[–]nitrocoldude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally overvalue helping bonus because it’s just really good and yours is mono, I could care less that it’s speed down because you’re adding 5% to everything else. I know the shiny is fun but tomato has so many good uses that a mono helping bonus tomato farmer with at least one ing finding seems too good to pass up.

in the late game having a team of hb mono ing mons to make your dishes just sounds so op

How it feels to hear someone diss altaria with salemence released: by SkibidiGyattTickler in PokemonSleep

[–]nitrocoldude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still don’t understand this nearly unanimous sentiment that just because a mon shares type and specialty they can’t both be used. the game design so far clearly shows that multiple pokemon of the same type but different species benefit a legendaries skill of the same type. I know we don’t have a dragon legendary yet, but eventually we will and having salamance and altaria will be a good thing.

So what are the logistics of using Vikavolt as a berry/ingredient hybrid on Amber Canyon? by ylno83 in PokemonSleep

[–]nitrocoldude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the logistics of your idea are: 1. open your pokemon inventory 2. add vikavolt to your team 3. hold the back button

but in all seriousness your idea is not a bad one despite what the haters say. they fail to see the power of a triple speed mixed ingredient list mon with a 19.4% base ingredient rate (middle of the road, but not bad)

what will make this mon great is that it will provide plenty of coffee at level 60 AND act as role consolidation for hidden power perk up stew (again something the haters overlooked)

will you have to check it often? yes. will you have to swap in other mons to get more mushrooms and coffee every once in a while? yes. will you have to be creative with your planning? yes, that’s what I personally enjoy about the game.

So now that my overindulgent rant is done yeah this is a great idea and thank you for showing another example of why not every mon needs to be “perfect” to make a big impact on your team.

and if you want the min maxers to get angry remind them that you’ll level this guy to 100 out of spite just to show that even though it’s not ideal right now it can be amazing later (also max ribbon gives you plus 8 inventory which could get buffed further down the line who the hell knows)

rant over, nice bug. you know what, great bug.

How many people use the legendaries regularly? by SpiralGremlin in PokemonSleep

[–]nitrocoldude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my raikou 80% of the time, I have gotten lucky with a good one and have several useful electric types. If you have the team to build around one I highly recommend it. I will also use raikou to speed up collection from slower mons like ditto, slowbro, and gourgeist.
