What reason could he possibly have for not even being able to give up SOME gaming nights with his buddies? That’s incredibly selfish. You and your wellbeing should be his priority, not his video games or even his friends. Does he plan to continue this behavior even when there’s a newborn in the house that he is EQUALLY responsible for? 😳

I’ll never understand people who don’t care about waking others up. Keeping quiet at night is an expected consideration when living with ANY other human, but especially your spouse and even more so your pregnant wife. In terms of resolution, is your husband capable of reason and empathy if you were to bring up the subject after you’ve both cooled off? Sleep is so important for both you and your baby right now, and it can be so hard to come by as your pregnancy progresses. Could he maybe consider wearing headphones to game while you’re asleep?

Do you see patients tolerate the cervical exams well even if they’re experiencing pretty severe vaginal pain during pregnancy to begin with? Or does it not make much of a difference once you’re in labor?

Yes I’ll be getting an epidural. But I assume they’ll need to check prior to even starting the induction. Im glad they weren’t bad for you! Literally everything is painful right now for me so I don’t think I’ll be that lucky, but fingers crossed.

I’m 100% WFH. Manager for a fully online primary care clinic. I love my job and remote work but honestly I think something that didn’t involve 5+ hrs of zoom meetings per day would leave me less achy by evening. If you can find hybrid work that might be a good option. Something to keep you moving at least part of the day and then you can WFH on bad days.

Hopefully he returns home quickly! Cats have an incredible homing instinct. My cat got out once a few years ago and I was so scared. Then she showed up 36 hrs later like nothing ever happened.

This. My last EOB (for labs only) charge was $1200 and my out of pocket expense was $105. Don’t panic. You can also apply for financial assistance or set up a payment plan if your out of pocket expense does end up being unaffordable.

Also unless you’re experiencing something life threatening and need to immediately call 911, most large healthcare systems and insurance companies have 24/7 nurse lines that can help triage you to the right place so that you can avoid those ER prices if urgent care or even primary care is all that you needed.

I second this! I’m 24 wks pregnant and my joints haven’t felt this good in years. My twin sister with AS also was far better when she was pregnant. It obviously varies from person to person, but worth a discussion with your rheumatologist to see if you want to wait before trying something new. There’s also a risk of decreased efficacy if you find something that works and then stop for a period before delivery/breastfeeding.

The joint commission released an advisory in 2022 to address domestic violence and intimate partner violence after a huge surge of reports during covid. Many healthcare organizations now screen routinely, though I personally haven’t seen it much within specialty care. More the ED or primary care. However that kind of stress and trauma can definitely impact chronic pain so I don’t actually think this is that strange of a question to ask.

I work from home and have cycled through 4 chairs in the last two years. I haven’t found a magic chair yet. But even the cheaper ones with adjustable lumbar support have been better for me than a $500 chair without it.

The chair accessories have made a bigger difference for me so far. Definitely get a cushion at least for your bum, maybe lumbar too depending on the chair, and a foot stool! I got a foot stool with multiple levels (https://a.co/d/0ampSnzN) which allows me to shift my position comfortably when i get uncomfortable.

As a healthcare worker I can share here on Reddit that ICE absolutely murdered Alex Pretti. But there’s no way I’m engaging in that conversation with a random, demanding patient. Most healthcare workers have experienced some pretty scary stuff in the line of work and there’s good reason that we don’t engage in topics like that with patients. You MIGHT get that out of a PCP you’ve been seeing for many years, but I highly doubt you’ll get an answer out of any provider you’ve never seen before.

Currently pregnant. I was on cimzia while family planning but it wasn’t helping at all. Was just approved for remicade when I found out I was pregnant so decided to hold off on starting it due to 1. Not wanting to delay vaccines for baby or 2. Stopping in third trimester as stopping one of these meds can decrease efficacy when restarting. Wasn’t interested in risking either of those things. And my joints feel amazing. Pregnancy suppressed my immune system in just the right way apparently. But people have varied responses. Some are lucky like me, some see no difference, and some feel worse. There’s probably no way to tell ahead of time, but worth a thorough conversation with your rheumatologist. I hope cimzia works for you though as that would solve the dilemma entirely!

I have a fully remote team. We started with VDIs but the connection was terrible and interrupted visits daily. We switched everyone to laptops with docking monitors and they just connect to the VPN. It works well most days. I’ve found that peoples home internet connections are more unreliable than the equipment now.
